News from the Principal
Dear Dads and Mums,
– Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held during
week 9 this term. This is a great opportunity to touch base with teachers to exchange
information and see how students are progressing in their new class. Due to the large
number of interviews, the time frame is 10 minutes; however, you are welcome to make
another booking with the class teacher if there are issues requiring further discussion.
Bookings will open on Friday 6th March at 4.00pm and close on Thursday 19th
March at 6.00pm. The website address is www.schoolinterviews.com.au. Full details
were sent home in a note yesterday. This note with instructions of how to make a
booking can also be found on our website.

New Caddies Creek PS App - Great news! Caddies Creek Public School now
has an app! This app will allow our families to quickly access school information,
including the school newsletter and a calendar of upcoming events. It will also enable
important information to be sent out in the form of instant alerts. The Caddies Creek app
can be downloaded to your smartphone by searching for ‘Caddies Creek Public School’
in either the Apple App Store or Android Google Play Market. An ipad version will be
available soon. Many thanks to Miss Bonaventura for her groundwork in setting up and
monitoring our new app. Many families have already downloaded our app and we have
had positive feedback.

Library News
Thank You- Thank you to the Henson family for their very kind donation
towards the purchase of our new library “book spinner” which stores several of
our popular book series. The spinner will be very well used, not only this year,
but for many years to come!
Reading Challenges – Unfortunately, due to time restrictions this week, no
reading challenge forms have been processed by the Library staff. They will be
processed next week.
Library teaching & learning programs – During this term, many
classes are participating in additional Library lessons. All Year 1 classes are
learning about The Seasons, class 3O is studying Australian States and
Territories, classes 6H, 6N & 6R are researching Ancient Egypt and Class 6O is
School Email
investigating the intriguing death of King Tutankhamun. Students are enjoying
caddiescrkp.school@det.nsw.edu. developing and refining their research skills!

Harmony Day
Everyone belongs
Caddies Creek Primary School will celebrate Harmony Day on Tuesday, 24th March.
Harmony Day is about bringing people together to celebrate being Australian. It is a day to
understand and commit to the benefits of living in a country that embraces the common
values of respect, fairness, participation, acceptance and a fair go for all. It's about
educating our children to counter ignorance with the facts of our success as a multicultural
nation. To celebrate the day Caddies Creek students are encouraged to wear an orange
accessory with their school uniform. Students could wear an orange armband, an orange
hat or ribbon. How about orange socks! Please encourage your child to participate and help
to make it a successful day.

P&C News
Second Hand Uniform Pool: Thank you to everyone who supported our first fundraising event for 2015.
The
P & C are pleased to report that over $400 was raised, which will help buy resources for the school. Again thank you to
everyone who donated uniforms for the sale and those who purchased. We will hold another in Term 2, so please keep
watch for further details.
Easter Raffle: With Easter coming up, the P & C are busy organising the annual Easter raffle. The raffle will be
drawn at the K-2 Easter Hat Parade. As in previous years we are kindly asking that each family donate one Easter
chocolate bunny, large egg or packet of eggs to the raffle. Also, we are in need of any large or medium baskets that you
may be able to donate so that we can put our Easter egg prizes together. If you have any baskets that you no longer need
they will be greatly appreciated. Any eggs and baskets can be left at the office for collection by the P & C.

Sports News
State Knockout Cricket -
After reaching the Regional Final in last year's competition, the State Knockout
Cricket team began its campaign this season with a resounding victory over Metella Road. In batting first, the boys
posted a competitive 6/100 off their 25 overs with Jai Bedi (29) top scoring and Nicolas Freedman (18) providing great
support. In reply, Metella Road were bowled out for 70 following some pinpoint bowling and sublime fielding!
Gursimran Singh (3/8) and Mitchell Wright (2/6) led our bowling attack while Jayesh Kalra showed his talent behind the
stumps in a Man of the Match performance! An outstanding start; looking forward to Round#2...
Seven Hills / Wentworthville PSSA Zone Trials -
Congratulations to the following students on their
selection into the Seven Hills / Wentworthville PSSA teams to compete at the Sydney School Sport Championships later
this term and early in Term 2.

Swimming Carnival News - Congratulations to all the students who were involved in the Caddies Creek
Swimming Carnival last week. It was wonderful to see so many children participating in the events. The standard of our
carnival continues to improve every year! Congratulations to Daniel Lakeman who broke the 12yrs boys 50m record.
The feedback from the novelty events was great, a record number of children attended (469), an increased participation
rate, over 150 parents attending and most importantly the number of smiles on our colossal Caddies Creek students. A
huge thank you to our parent helpers without them our carnival would not run so smoothly.
The final result of the 2015 Swimming Carnival was as follows:
1st: Spirit (Yellow) 352 points
2nd: Confidence (Green) 331 points
3rd: Courage (Blue) 271 points
4th: Pride (Red) 206 points
We have now selected a large team of swimmers to attend the Seven Hills / Wentworthville Zone Swimming Carnival
based on the carnival results. The carnival will be held tomorrow at the Blacktown Aquatic Centre commencing at
8.30am. Swimming Carnival ribbons will be presented at our Week 7 Assemblies.
