Commercial Light Automation Energy Management
The new Lumina Gateway from Leviton is a fresh look at automation for small commercial
applications. Professional offices, restaurants, convenience stores, shops, and more can all
benefit from what Lumina Gateway has to offer. In many cases those businesses already
have a fire and burglar alarm system in place, but they probably don’t have any way to
schedule or remotely control lights and thermostats, automate lights based on occupancy,
or get email/text notifications. Lumina Gateway gives all of that. It’s a compact, no-fee
cloud-enabled device that has an on board Zigbee radio to support Leviton’s existing
Zigbee wireless thermostats, as well as their new Zigbee sensors and switch. Scheduling
lights and thermostats based on business hours can provide noticeable energy savings.
Lumina Gateway can also control lighting loads based on the status of its wireless sensors –
occupancy, door/window, and motion. Remote access to the system from iOS and Android
apps means owners and managers can adjust lights and temperatures when special
circumstances outside of regular hours dictate. Email and text notifications can alert them

A Doorbell That Can Call Your Smartphone
Add the Teleport IP door system to your Grandstream system and get more than just
doorbell functionality. The Teleport communicates with the system as a standard
extension. It is configured to dial a group of extensions when the call button is pressed.
When a user answers, they get 2-way audio with the door station and even video from
it (when using Grandstream Android phones). Better still, any smartphone with a SIP
softphone app (about $15 on the app stores) can also be in that call group. A common
scenario is to have inside phones ring for 10-15 seconds when the door station is activated,
and if it is not answered it goes to one or more smartphones. They even get video when
they answer. The teleport controller also has contact closures so you can release a mag lock
or door strike, or open a gate while on the call.
For this functionality without the IP phone system, use the Teleport monthly service.
Dealers pay $6 per month and resell for about $10. When the doorbell button is pressed, it
calls a few smartphones and provides video and audio when answered.
