Note: One of the common misconceptions regarding conferences or conventions, like the Mississippi Valley
Regional Conference (MVRC), is that these conferences are AA or Al-Anon meetings and since “there are
no dues or fees for AA membership” there should be no fees to attend. Conventions and conferences like
this are special events, NOT regular AA or Al-Anon meetings. They require months of planning, preparation,
and substantial money to put on. Since this conference will be held at the Hannibal Quality Inn & Suites
there is a charge for the use of the facilities. Additionally, the hotel will require the minimum purchases be
made throughout the hotel. Other expenses include: room and board for the speakers, printing and postage,
and supplies for conference advertising and onsite hospitality/activities. The MVRC is self-supporting. The
total cost is paid through registration fees – however, baskets may or may not be passed. Attendance is
voluntary and as responsible AA and Al-Anon members we “pay our own way.” Thank you for your
participation and continued support of the annual Mississippi Valley Regional Conference.
MVRC committee members are volunteers from: AA - District 13, 6, & 7 in
Missouri, District 5 in Illinois, District 10 in Iowa ~and~ District 19 Al-Anon
Family Groups in MO and District 15 Al-Anon Family Groups in Illinois
