Five other Aedas projects also won Nominated Awards. Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Administration Information Building, designed by Global Board Director Andy Wen, is the main administrative building of the university and gives a modern interpretation of the famous Taihu stones which are always found in Suzhou gardens. The porous nature of the stones is reflected architecturally by voids and spaces inside the building to facilitate interaction and allow a series of sustainable design features. The Revitalisation Project at Mallory Street/Burrows Street conserves a rare and intact shophouse ensemble dated 1910s (listed Grade 2 historic building in Hong Kong) and revives the traditional architectural fabric for modern leisure and commercial use. Designed by Associate Director Edward Leung, this revitalisation project respects historic changes, faithfully reinstates the more intact portions and features, as well as introduces contemporary design and materials to the remaining blocks.
