The Gold Medal for the Building Surveyor of the Year is proudly sponsored by BlueScope Steel
and will be awarded to the nominee whom the selection panel believe (following verification of
the details submitted) best satisfies the eligibility and selection criteria stated below.
The Gold Medal is the AIBS SA chapter highest individual building surveyor honour. The Award
is made in recognition of the most distinguished services by an individual building surveyor.
Eligibility criteria
Nominees must be a member of the SA Chapter of the AIBS and:
 Have been accredited by the AIBS for 5 years or more at any of the three accreditation
levels recognised by the AIBS National Accreditation Scheme at the date of nomination and
upon receipt of the award;
 Be a financial member of the AIBS at the date of nomination and upon receipt of the award;
 Not have been the subject of disciplinary action resulting from a complaint made under the
AIBS Accreditation Code of Professional Conduct or Membership Code of Professional
Conduct.
Selection criteria
The nominating person must provide a written statement (maximum 1000 words) and
supporting examples/evidence if appropriate demonstrating how the nominee has:
 In the course of performing their duties of employment, exemplifies and/or exceeds the standard of
professional conduct required by the AIBS Accreditation Code of Professional Conduct and
Membership Code of Professional Conduct.
 During the course of their employment and through involvement in professional activities outside
their place of employment, regularly promotes the building surveying profession, its role and
importance to the community.
 Through their involvement in, or development of building surveying related initiatives, reforms,
projects or the like, is a recognised leader in the building surveying profession.
 Demonstrates their commitment to sustaining the building surveying profession through mentoring,
educating and/or training students, staff, building surveying and other related professionals.

Please attach a written statement (max. 1000 words) demonstrating how the nominee satisfies
the selection criteria.

One electronic copy of each entry submission is required for the purposes of judging.
All entries must be accompanied by written support material, including:
a. A Statement maximum of 5 x A4 pages (1000 words) in 12-point font outlining
b. how the nominees meet the key criteria for the Award being applied for
c. An abstract no more than 250 words suitable for media and promotional use
d. File type: Preferred PDF

Award judging starts on 16 April 2015.
Late entries will not be accepted.

Conditions of Entry
AIBS SA Chapter reserves the right to retain all entries and their images and to
publish (hard copy and online) the information submitted. Entries will not be
returned to applicants unless requested upon nominating.
AIBS SA Chapter reserves the right to exhibit or publish any or all of the entries.
By entering the Awards the applicants give permission to AIBS SA Chapter to
publish, exhibit and promote the content of the submission.
Entries will be excluded:
a. If incomplete, such that they do not contain all the information and images in
b. the form required
c. If received after the closing date
d. If it does not fulfil the binding clauses laid down in these conditions of entry
The judges have the option to move an entry into a category that they believe
best suits the entry and improve the chances of selection for an award. Entrants
will be notified of any such changes.
