Phone and fax registrations can be made with MasterCard or VISA (either debit or credit cards). You may also register in person during office hours (M-F, 9 am - 5 pm) or by mailing the registration form--on the last page of this brochure--with your check or credit card to: The Arts Castle, 190 W. Winter St., Delaware, Ohio 43015. Class Cancellations Early registra- tion helps insure that classes will run. Registration continues until classes are filled or the registration deadline passes. We may accept registrations after the published deadline for classes that have met our minimum registration requirements. The Arts Castle reserves the right to cancel classes if the need arises; you will be notified if your class must be cancelled. Inclement Weather Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced on radio stations 610 WTVN (AM) and Sunny 95 WSNY (AM/FM) and on TV channels 4, 6 and 10. An announcement will also be recorded on the Castle’s answering service, which can be accessed by calling 740/369-2787. Please note: Schools may be closed, but we may be open (or vice versa). 2 Check to be sure. Student Work Except by special request, student artwork will not be retained past the end of the quarter. Ceramic artwork must be removed by the posted deadline. Scholarships Scholarships are avail- able for students who qualify, based on financial need. Applications are available at The Arts Castle or online. The deadline for Spring 2015 quarter is Friday, March 20 by 5 p.m. Participant Waiver By register- ing for a class, workshop, camp or event, you hereby grant and give this organization and its partner organizations the right to use your photograph or your child’s photograph or image with or without your name or your child’s name, both singly and in conjunction with other persons of objects, for any and all purposes including, but not limited to, private or public presentations, advertising, publicity, and promotion. Also, you hereby, for yourself, your heirs, executors, and administrators, waive and release any and all rights and claims for damages you or your child may have against this organization and its partner organizations, representatives, successors, and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by yourself or your child during any activity sponsored by these groups. Refund Policy For cancellations up to the close of business on the registration deadline, a $10 processing fee is retained. A refund of 50% of the course fee will be given if a student withdraws before 2 business days prior to the first day of the course. Due to contractual obligations, The Arts Castle will be unable to refund class fees after this time. Fees may not be carried over to the next sesson. Class credit will not be given. Unattended Children Policy The Arts Castle is an institution where all patrons can engage in artistic activities safely. However, due to limitations of space and resources, our staff and instructors are not available to provide adequate security and safety for children outside of the registered class timeframe. Therefore, it is imperative that parents/guardians drop off and pick up children for classes in a timely manner. Children should be picked up from class within 10 minutes of the scheduled class completion time. In addition, children who visit the center for activities such as exhibit viewing and special events should always be accompanied by a caregiver or parent. Classes followed by ** are not available online for initial registration. Please call The Arts Castle, 740/369-2787 or stop in to register. These classes are also exempt from the 10% membership discount. While we build this cozy house for bird or bat families, we will discuss how to be a guardian of these spirits of the forest through a hand-on approach to backyard wildlife conservation. We ask that a parent/ caregiver accompany students ages 9 to 12; the adult will not be charged for the class. Please make arrangements to pick up work before June 5. Permission of Ceramics Coordinator required; students must go through our ceramics studio orientation before taking this class. Passes must be purchased in advance, but may be purchased for either 1 session or 8 sessions. A one-session costs $23; an eight-session pass costs $90. Clay is not included, but may be purchased separately. Glazes and firing are included, but only pieces created completely onsite and meeting quality standards will be fired. His friends diagnose his trouble as a bad case of de Mopes, and persuade him to consult Aunt Mammy Bammy for a cure. To gather the ingredients for Aunt Mammy Bammy’s curin’ potion, Brer Rabbit has to resort to his old tricks, and thus u Weaving on a Floor Loom Students will learn to weave on the Castle’s floor looms. You will learn to wind a warp, dress a loom, and weave basic patterns into a sampler, which can be transformed into coasters, doll rugs, or left as-is. Space is extremely limited so register early! Bring a tape measure and a pair of scissors to class. All other materials are included in the 9 class fee. Repeat students are welcome. Deadline: Mar 25 Ages: 15+ Member: $85 • Non-Member: $94 GLASS ARTS u Beginning Stained Glass Have you ever stood in awe of the stained glass panels in churches? Learn how to make stained glass and cut glass into pattern pieces to produce your own stained glass composition using the copper foil technique. More advanced students may continue their exploration of the media. Students may purchase glass from the Castle for $10 at registration, or may buy glass from area retailers. Instructions on how to purchase glass will be covered during the first class. All other materials included in the class fee. Create a stained glass wall hanging without the stress of the traditional stained glass process. We’ll use scraps of beautiful art glass to create a free form design on a small window or sturdy picture frame with glass. Our process consists of arranging and gluing varied colorful pieces onto the glass pane. These finished pieces will be durable enough to hang on your porch, in a window or in a garden. Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own frame. Recommended size is not smaller than 8” x 10” and not larger than 16” x 20”. Old picture frames with glass work fine. For students who have no frame, a limited number of frames are available for purchase at class; please indicate your intention to do so at registration. The fall course was centered on 2-D arts. The winter course was focused on 3-D arts such as sculpture, ceramics, and structures. In the spring, we will work with mixed media, such as prints and collage. Each course will contain art history and vocabulary. Students will receive individual guidance in completing a new project each week. Each course may be taken independently; no previous experience is required. Whether you are a caregiver interested in exploring art history with your youngster, an adult looking for an artistic outlet, or a homeschooling teen interested in extending involvement with the Homeschool Art program at the Castle, this multi-age class is for you! Wearable Custom Ceramic Gear Ceramics isn’t just about throwing pottery on a wheel or making pinch pots. Claywork has also been a medium for demonstrating personal flair since ancient times. In this course, you will learn the basic fundamentals of crafting personal pieces of wearable ceramic at- titude! Each student will make at least three pieces, including a pendant and wrist band. Perfect for RPG fantasy aficionados, fans of the steampunk aesthetic, or simply teens who would like to make one-of-a-kind works of wearable art.
