IEEE CERTIFIED CEU SPD & POWER QUALITY SEMINAR Seminars are a logical source for the evaluation of any product or service. Education is never a waste of time! March 17, 2015 Protection Seminar 8am—1pm Continental Breakfast SHARE THE EXPERIENCES OF OTHERS WHO FACED SIMILAR CHALLENGES AND OVERCAME THEM BY THE USE OF SPD SYSTEMS! Lunch & Seminar Materials .5 CEU’s Available Embassy Suites BWI 1300 Concourse Drive Linthicum, MD 21090 You can share: Networking time with others who share your concerns for protection of critical systems and equipment. 2kV, 67A, 100kHz, 270 deg. ringwave with industry standard SPD ~ 523V let through Phone: (410) 850-0747 VS. Click here to register or visit: www.surgesuppression.com In the accumulated wisdom from others who have faced similar challenges in many situations and know what works (and what doesn’t!) in “real world” applications like yours. In determining solutions that are cost-effective and practical for the problems that are discussed at your seminar, many of which can then be applied to your situations. You can witness: You will learn: ARE COMPUTERS IMPORTANT TO YOUR SUCCESS? HOW MANY ELECTRONIC DEVICES DO YOU DEPEND ON DAILY? LEARN HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CRITICAL SYSTEMS FROM THE DAMAGING EFFECTS OF TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SURGES! Have you ever experienced: Lightning damage? Lost or scrambled data? Unexplained rebooting? Unacceptable downtime? Erratic computer operation? Expensive computer repairs? If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions… if you are among the millions of people around the world who must have reliable performance from their electronic equipment… you really need to attend this valuable educational experience! Who is being fair and accurate in their claims of performance What are typical sources for most transient voltage surges When to have a surge suppression survey conducted at your facility Leading members of the industry demonstrating techniques used to evaluate TVSS performance The effects on SPD performance that may be created by an installer, either positive or negative Where are the best locations to install surge suppression devices Why it is difficult to evaluate SPDs* from manufacturer specifications How to protect against the damage from transient voltage surges * (“Surge Protective Device” includes transient voltage surge suppressor, “TVSS”) WITNESS TESTING OF SPD PRODUCTS FIRST-HAND WITH “NO HOLDS BARRED” IN A “REAL WORLD” HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPARISON! The damaging effects of high voltage power surges on typical electrical items and equipment True “Performance vs. Claims” in fair and honest comparison testing conducted right before your eyes! Elements of the new test standards found in ANSI/UL1449 3rd Edition, ANSI C.62-2002 and IEEE 1100-2005 The course is presented by Tom Butcher, Vice President of Technical Services for Surge Suppression Incorporated® and senior member of IEEE. Mr. Butcher has been presenting this course, with periodic updates, for the last 20 years throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. Disclaimer: Mr. Butcher is a salaried employee of Surge Suppression Incorporated, a manufacturer of Surge Protective Devices (SPD). IEEE and CEUs The CEU is a currency that measures a person's participation in a formal, non-credit continuing education program, such as a workshop, seminar, tutorial, or self-study course. One CEU is equal to ten contact hours of instruction in a continuing education activity. Any activity less than one hour in duration is not eligible for CEUs. TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SURGES CREATE MANY PROBLEMS THAT WILL HURT YOUR PROFITS, CAUSE DOWNTIME AND COST YOU MONEY! IF YOUR EQUIPMENT IS NOT PROTECTED, IT IS AT RISK. SO, ASK YOURSELF… “WHAT CAN I AFFORD TO LOSE?” Currently, thirty states (PDF, 57 KB) require Professional Development Hours to maintain P.E. licensure, encouraging engineers to seek CEUs for their participation in Continuing Education Programs. IEEE CEUs readily translate into PDHs (1 CEU = 10 PDHs). Evidence of participation in these courses also helps engineers meet company training requirements. IEEE maintains an official registry of all CEUs awarded. This makes accounting to state licensing boards an easier task for engineers. It also helps IEEE organizational units keep track of seminar/tutorial participants.
