balancing the needs of pedestrians and bicyclists against those of the automobile, and the

HIGH-PERFORMANCE BUILDINGS AND COMMUNITY PATTERNS
Concurrent session
Land use economics create frameworks of feasibility for both individual building design
and the larger patterns of community. Land use patterns and building design represent
fundamental opportunities to shape community health and resilience outcomes. How
can new approaches to the way buildings are used and reused; financed and designed
advance new benchmarks of performance? How can new combinations of building types
create community patterns which are livable, sustainable, healthy and resilient?
