The learner should be able to recognize the scope of need for palliative care for patients with severe illness as well as describe the challenges that these patients face. The learner will be introduced to goals of care communication and how it relates to severe illness while effectively documenting patient wishes through the New Jersey Practitioner’s Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST).
