POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Administrative and Finance Assistant Cameroon AVRDC – The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. AVRDC conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world through increased production and consumption of nutritious and health-promoting vegetables. AVRDC’s Regional Office for West and Central (AVRDC-WCA) in Bamako (Mali) conducts vegetable research and development and provides training and information services with the goal of improving nutrition and livelihoods among small-scale farmers and consumers in West and Central Africa. The Job: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Cameroon national to provide general administration and finance support to the AVRDC-Cameroon team based at the liaison office in Yaoundé. The position reports to the Country Liaison Officer. Duties and responsibilities: 1. Management of files and other records in AVRDC Cameroon Office; 2. Processing advances and claims for payment and maintain the cash advance register for follow up on the reimbursements of the advances; 3. Prepare all payments and disbursements, manage the petty cash and maintain accurate records of transactions; 4. Prepare and monitor Cameroon Liaison Office’s quarterly budgets to ensure that financial transactions are done in accordance with AVRDC’s financial rules and procedures; 5. Ensure timely and effective submission of financial reports to AVRDC WCA and headquarters; 6. Preparation of the reconciliation statement of all Cameroon Office bank accounts; 7. Assist to liaise with hosting organization (IITA) for all financial and personnel matters; 8. Provide general clerical support , including receiving ,screening and directing in-coming calls , mail and visitors; 9. Assist with administrative correspondence and logistics for seminars, workshops, training courses and other meetings; 10. Assist with travel arrangements (tickets, visa, hotel booking, etc...) for center staff or visiting collaborators and maintain a weekly travel roster; 11. Assist with purchasing and management of assets and office supplies, notably ensure regular maintenance and appropriate use of all assets and equipments; 12. Ensure compliance of operations with the internal procedures of the Center and the laws and regulations of Cameroon. Qualifications and Experience: 1. Must be a Cameroon national or have legal permit to work in Cameroon 2. Must hold at least a Bachelor Degree in Administration, Accounting or related discipline; 3. Minimum of three years working experience as Administrative and Finance Assistant or Accountant preferable in a development project Head Office or an international organization; 4. Having at least one year of experience in project accounting and finance is and advantage 5. Must be computer literate (good mastery of Excel, MS word, an accounting software) 6. Must be capable of multitasking while paying attention to detail and delivering quality outputs under short timelines and pressure 7. Must be able to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team; 8. Must be fluent in written and spoken English and French; 9. Must possess good communication and writing skills; Appointment: The initial appointment is for two years, subject to a satisfactory probation period of six months. Subsequent renewals are based on performance and availability of resources. Salary and perquisites are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
