WindSentinel Floating LiDAR System
WindSentinel™
Floating LiDAR
The WindSentinel™ is a world leading wind resource
assessment buoy that uses LiDAR to accurately measure
wind speed and wind direction at turbine hub-height
and across the blade span.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
»» Reduces the cost of offshore wind
resource assessments
»» Proven platform designed to
perform in extreme marine
environments
»» ±20 metre range gate probe depth
allows real-world measurements
from 30m - 200m
»» Portable, reusable, easier to permit
WINDSENTINEL™
Floating LiDAR
The WindSentinel is the world’s leading
wind resource assessment buoy capable of
measuring wind data across the blade span
of conventional offshore wind turbines.
At the heart of the WindSentinel is the
WatchMan500 controller paired with a LiDAR
designed to accurately measure wind from
moving platforms. The WindSentinel offers
clients a choice of LiDARs in either a single
or dual LiDAR configuration to measure
wind speed and direction at up to 200M. The
resulting wind data can be transmitted via a
selection of telemetry options through the
AXYS WatchMan500. These components have
been engineered into the NOMAD buoy: a
well-proven platform designed to perform in
extreme marine environments.
The WindSentinel is the faster and more
accurate way to gather offshore wind data
across multiple locations, for less money.
Deploy a WindSentinel to perform wind
resource assessments without the high
costs and bureaucratic hurdles associated
with fixed met tower construction.
Alternatively, augment a traditional met-mast
measurement campaign with a WindSentinel
to lower the uncertainties in your wind
resource assessment data.
