Travel
March saw us have a wonderful
PowerPoint presentation by Heather on
their recent trip to Vietnam and
Cambodia which was received very well
by our members.
We still have several members away so
we hope they will be back safely in
April.
This year we have welcomed three new
members who I am sure will add to our
travel trips discussions. Remember
though you don’t need to be an
overseas traveller or even do
presentations to enjoy our group but
just a passion for travel is all that’s
needed.
I now have a laptop that is available
should you want to connect to the
overhead projector.
Looking forward to seeing you in April.
Remember because of Easter it will be
the 2nd Monday being the 13thApril.
More on that later.
Welfare
I apologise for not making the newsletter last month. I had a
family funeral out of Auckland and missed the deadline.
February was a busy month visiting Candy Scott, Jude O'Neill, Vi
Mark (Janet Angel's mother). Vi was run down by a backing
motorised wheel chair. The operator failed to look back. I also
visited Paul Wright, just before his operation. He is slowly
recuperating, being lovingly nursed by Sue. I have also been
helping Valerie Ballantyne, who had a fall and broke a bone in
her right hand, and been taking Anthea Avery on her hospital
visits.
It was good to see Ian McAteer dressed up for St Patrick's Day in
his traditional kilt. I have been out of action for 3 weeks, so sorry
no visits. I rang Lynnette, who is being well cared for by Bob and
family. Keep shining lovely lady.
To those members who are unwell, and had falls, and who wish
to remain anonymous, be gentle with yourselves. Remember,
take care to avoid the falls. Walking up or down stairs, focus on
that only and remind yourself to just concentrate on that. If you
have a walker or cane please use them. Wishing you all good
health
Fishing Club,
Snapper became a little hard to find in March, normal spots did
not produce but drift fishing was above average.
The Kaipara trip was unfortunately cancelled due to last minute
incapacity of the skipper but we are rebooking at present,
probably for later in the year. The NZ Sports council meeting was
held on 29th March at the Bays Club, a large contingent of
members attended as observers and later went into discussions
with Legasea representatives, this being most informative as to
their intentions. The club continues to thrive however there is still
room for more members. The White Island trip is on the board so
put your name up if interested, there are two dates, 16th and 23rd
May.
POOL
We have little to report this month apart from a new ladder leader, Barrie Eynon, one win ahead of Marnie. Well
done both of you. However, there is a long way to go yet.
As we close in on the Club’s membership drive, we would like it known that we at Pool do have room for more
people to join us on Wednesdays at 7 pm. You will be most welcome and all will be explained.
