From the President: April Showers bring
May Flowers – its Blossomtime here in
Southwest Michigan! That means that the
community is starting to come alive for
the busy summer season. As part of the
busy spring season, the Box Factory is
proud to once again host our MAAC show
in May and June. We have had 239
entries this year from area artists! As our
process continues with jurying, we look
forward to congratulating all the winners for this year and
viewing all the wonderful exhibits in all three of our galleries.
Please join us for the MAAC opening on Friday, May 15, 2015.
As mentioned in the April article from the Board, we have many
things happening with the operations of the Box Factory. Our
Building and Grounds committee has been hammering away at all
the challenges owning a historical building will give us; mystery
leaks, constant painting, fun with HVAC, having brick and mortar
repairs and ordering windows just to name a few. Our Finance
team is also working hard; working in a not-for-profit always has
its ups and downs. Right now, we have several spaces available
for rent. If you know of anyone interested in a studio, we have
two available and two more that could be made available. Please
see the office if you are interested. We also have the former
Fathom Works space that is available. This is nearly 8000 square
feet and although we’ve had some interest, it remains vacant as
of the writing of this article. Again, if you know of anyone
interested in that space, do let us know.
This month we have some great classes happening as well as concerts nearly every weekend! Our hope is to have even
more events to help our organization thrive. If you have interest in volunteering to support these events, please let us
know.
In June we will have our annual election to the Board of Directors. If you have interest in becoming a “super” volunteer,
please consider a run for the Board. We will publish vacant seats and which directors are up for re-election in June. We
will also host our Annual Members Meeting in late June (a notice of the exact date will be sent under separate cover).
Enjoy the warm weather, the blossoms and, of course, don’t forget to stop by the Box and see what’s happening!
