Surplus Property Approval of resolution authorizing and directing the sale of certain school property pursuant to § 177.091 RSMo. (No. 21) F. Internal Revenue Code Requirements To comply with various Internal Revenue requirements adoption of the following declaration is required: The Blue Springs R-IV School District shall provide for “welfare and benefit plans” for purchase by authorized officials of the district for its employees, and by its employees, annuities complying with the provisions of Public Law 87-370, Section 403(b) of the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended; deferred compensation plans Section 457 and 457(f) of Internal Revenue Code 410.2 and US Treasury Regsl. 83-3(c)(2); and Section 125 “cafeteria plan” of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. All plans shall be “nondiscriminatory.” These plans shall be adopted annually by the Blue Springs R-IV Board of Education. G. Broker Services for 2015-2016 It is recommended the firm of CPSK Insurance Services, Inc., Principal John T. Southard, be employed by the district to serve as commercial insurance broker for the 2015-2016 school year. H. Meal Prices It is recommended the meal prices for the 2015-2016 school year be approved as follows: Elementary Snack – 65¢ Elementary Breakfast – $1.65 Secondary Breakfast – $1.70 Adult Breakfast – $2.00 Elementary Lunch – $2.25 Secondary Lunch – $2.50 Adult Lunch – $3.00 Milk – 60¢ Reduced Breakfast – $0.00 Reduced Lunch – 45¢ This cost structure includes $33,253.35 BSSD “non-federal” contribution to Nutritional Services program. I. Last Day of School It is recommended that the last day of school for students be set as Thursday, May 21, 2015. J. Annual Election Certification Action is required to certify the results of the April 7, 2015 board of directors’ election as submitted by the Jackson County Election Commission. April 13, 2015 Employee of the Month – Cara Anger The April "Employee of the Month" is Jim Breske, Counselor at the Freshman Center. Jim will be present at the meeting. The April category is Secondary Certified. B. Student of the Month – Cara Anger The April "Student of the Month" is Nathan Gentry, 8th grade student at Delta Woods Middle School. Nathan will be present at the meeting. The April category is Middle School. 7. REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT (Information) A. Program Highlight – Scott Young The Program Highlight will feature Lucy Franklin Elementary School staff and students promoting their upcoming LFE 5K event. Presenters will include teachers Joe Tucker and Kyle Kirk, and the families of Jeff Tsevis and Brian Hunt, as they encourage participating as a family in healthy activities. 8. 9. Medical/Vision/Dental Insurance Recommendation – Jim Finley A recommendation will be made at the meeting for approval of district medical/vision/dental insurance rates. C. April Executive Session – Jim Finley It is recommended the board meeting of April 13, 2015 include a closed executive session immediately following the public session. A sample motion is as follows and a roll call vote must be taken: It is moved that the Board of Education of Reorganized School District No. 4 conduct a closed session, pursuant to § 610.021 (1) (2) (3) (6) & (13) RSMo and § 610.022 RSMo, including any record or vote, immediately following the public session which will be held at 6:15 p.m., on April 13, 2015, in the Executive Board Room of the Gale T. Bartow Administrative Center, 1801 NW Vesper, Blue Springs, Missouri, for the purpose of considering: legal actions involving the district leasing, purchase, or sale of real estate hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees scholastic probation, expulsion, or graduation of identifiable individuals performance ratings pertaining to employees
