The child exhibited ongoing developmental trauma with multiple environmental stressors. This case raises the question of selecting an atypical child candidate for a traditional analysis and the additional parameters that may be essential for treatment. Presenter:: Patti M. Amsel, MSW, LCSW-C, has been working with adults, young children, Presenter adolescents and couples in inpatient and outpatient settings within a psychodynamic, object relations and an interpersonal orientation for the past thirty-five years. A former faculty member at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, she has held several clinical positions as well as taught psychiatric residents, psychology and social work interns and nursing students. Ms. Amsel is a graduate adult analyst at the Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. She is a Child Psychoanalytic candidate at the Center and currently is in private practice in Baltimore. Who should attend? The case conference is extended to psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed counselors, mental health students, clergy and other mental health providers interested in psychoanalytic theory, practice and perspectives. Purpose of the Case Conference: ● ● ● The case conference is designed to inform clinicians working with a range of client populations. Promote peer interaction with therapists and clergy from a variety of clinical settings and mental health disciplines in the community. Provide a way to reach many in the Washington community who are isolated from opportunities to learn from experienced peers. Objectives of the Case Conference: Participants will be able to: • • identify and describe the use of the psychotherapist/psychoanalyst as a developmental object. identify and describe widening-scope interventions that may be flexibly and individually applied during the course of treatment. Format of the Case Conference: • • A prepared psychotherapeutic or psychoanalytic case will be presented and discussed from a variety of theoretical points of view. A question and answer period will follow the case presentation. Registration: • • • • • There is no charge for this conference. Donations will be welcome for snacks. There is a $15-per-hour charge for non dues-paying members of the Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis wishing to receive a confirmation of attendance.
