Cambridge Primary School Holiday Homework Class II 2015 Hey! The much awaited summer vacation has arrived! Yippee! We are going to have loads of fun from May 21, 2015. Dear Mummy and Papa, It’s the time to have fun together, take a dip in a cool pool, watch our favourite movies and of course, have fun doing my holiday homework activities. And yes, our teachers have given us very little homework this time, so that we can spend more time on things we really like – reading, swimming, cycling and so many more of …… So let’s get set and go – Section – A Happy Reading! – Read stories. It could be - A story book (e.g. Noddy, Franklin, Winnie the Pooh series etc.) - A magazine (e.g. Magic Pot, Champak etc.) - A children’s newspaper (e.g. Young World) 1. From any three stories that you read, name two characters (from each story), write asentence about each character and draw the picture as well. Use A4 sheets and put them in a folder. 2. Do one page of English and Hindi handwriting every week from the story books in a thin notebook.(Note : For English try to write in cursive) 3. Learn Hindi (varnamala) from the Hindi copy. Section – B (To be done in a spiralled coloured scrap book) 1.Make a family album. Paste photos of your grandparents (paternal and maternal), parentsand siblings (brothers and sisters). Write their names, birthdays, ages and one sentence about each one of them. 2.Travelogues-Write about the place you visited during the holidays. a) Name of the place you visited. b) Where is that place? c) How did you travel? d) Who all went with you? e) What did you see there? f) Paste pictures and photographs. Section – C Use a thin notebook to solve 5 word problems every week. Solve the questions given below and make more word problems based on these, by changing the names and numbers. 1. A man had 75 flowers. He sold 64 flowers. How many are left with him? 2. A school library has 43 English books and 56 Hindi books. Which books are more and how many more? 3. Out of 96 beads 55 were red. How many were not red? 4. A shopkeeper has 55 apples left. He has sold 33 apples today. How many apples did he have altogether? 5. Jinu has 82 bookmarks. She got 13 more. How many book marks are there with Jinu now? 6. There are 85 children in a play school. On a rainy day 25 children were absent. How many were present? 7. Rita has 64 candles. Neeru has 3 candles. Who has more candles and how many more? 8. Neha collected 32 stamps. Her friends gave her 50 more stamps. How many stamps does she have now? 9. Ritu has 16 sweets. Reena has 23 sweets more than Ritu. How many sweets does Reena have? 10. In a class, 32 children are present today and 15 are absent. How many children are there altogether? Section – D - (Do any two activities) Recycled Plant Pots Do not throw away plastic containers. big Make beautiful plant pots for the kitchen windows. Paint them with bright colours on the outside. Paint a thin border at the base of the pot and leave it to dry. Now make a hole at the base of the pot. Fill the pot with soil and your beautiful plant pot is ready. Birthday booklet It is sometimes difficult to remember the birth dates of Make a pencil holder Cover family members, relatives and friends. Write them in a small booklet which will be helpful. How to make – Take 12 sheets of paper. Make holes and tie them with a ribbon. Write the names of the 12 months on these sheets (One month on one sheet). Write the names of people under their birth dates. You can also decorate the pages with colours and glitter. Make a cover page and name it ‘Birthdays’. Enjoy your holidays!
