The Cameo’s World Cinema Project understands that sometimes you have a dream so big, it’s hard to
see how to fit it into your life. If your dream has always been to tell your story through film, this workshop is just for you!
To encourage local student filmakers to participate in the annual Student Film Competition, the
Cameo Cinema in St. Helena is offering a free, hands-on workshop to give students an intensive
introduction to the craft of filmmaking. Nowhere else will you find this level of filmmaking intensity
combined with this much fun.
GET CREATIVE.
Our World Cinema Project designed this workshop to help you master the creative and technical demands of telling a story with moving images. Learn about directing, writing, editing, cinematography,
and production from local film professionals. This workshop is not just about making movies; it was
creaated to help you bring your vision and your passion to the big screen.

Workshop Part 1: Friday, March 27, 2015 - 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Workshop Part 2: Saturday, March 28, 2015 - 10 am to 1:00 pm
There will be a thirty minute break for dinner on Friday with the meal provided by us.

Parents are welcome; off-street parking is available.
FREE to all students between the ages 8 and 18, with the permission of the parent or legal guardian.

CALLING ALL DREAMERS.
The Cameo Cinema is super-excited to announce our 2015 Student Film Competition. This event is a
feature of the Family Film Festival of Napa Valley, which will be held at the Cameo Cinema in
St. Helena, May 22 through May 25, 2015. All events are free to the community.

Some frequently asked questions.
Q: Are groups of filmmakers allowed?
A: Yes! Groups of filmmakers of any size are allowed to submit; please submit your short film only once on behalf of the group.
Q: Who can submit?
A: The Competition is open to students, ages 8 through 18, with the permission of your parent or legal guardian.
Q: How do I submit?
A: Submit an official Entry Form, signed by your parent or guardian by midnight, May 4, 2015. You have until
midnight, May 11, 2015 to submit your short film by sending us the Vimeo link.
Q: How will I know you received my entry?
A: You will receive a confirmation email and postcard when we receive your entry.
Q: How long can my film be?
A: To qualify, your short film must be less than five minutes in length and be appropriate for a general viewing audience.
Q: Will my film be shown at the Family Film Festival?
A: YES; every film entered into the competition will be shown on the big screen at the Red Carpet Event on Sunday, May 24th.
Q: When will you announce the winners?
A: The winners in each category (Elementary, Middle and High School, and Grand Prize) will be announced at the
Red Carpet Event on Sunday, May 24th. There will be one winner in each category.
Q: Are there prizes?
A: The winning films in the Elementary, Middle School and High School categories will receive an Apple IPad. The Grand
Prize Winner will receive an Apple IPad with a Tripod, Lens and Microphone. (Limited to one prize for each film)
The Napa Valley Film Festival will screen the winning short films as part of their film festival on Sunday, November 15, 2015.
Winners will also be invited on stage at the awards ceremony at the Uptown Theatre.
Q: When do submissions close?
A: Submissions close on May 11, 2015; however if you are planning to submit please send in your Entry Form by May 4, 2015.
