CAP E TO W N E I S TE DD FO D PROMOTING THE ARTS Since 1903 IMPORTANT NOTES 1. Please take note of closing dates and rules pertaining to entry delivery. There are new rules governing the checking of entries – all entries MUST be paid before they will be accepted. Entry forms, cards, information form, proof of payment (if paid by eft / bank deposit – cash will be receipted) and a signed code of conduct are to be submitted on entering. NO LATE STUDIO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. If any teacher omits a dancer’s entry in error, a R80-00 surcharge per entry will be charged. 2. Please take note of the graded percentages in the syllabus. 3. There is now an “extended group” section in the Stagebranch and Ballet sections. This group may be 8-15 minutes long. We have also split the groups in the Stagebranch and Ballet sections into “Small (5-10 dancers)” and “Large (11 & over dancers)” groups. PLEASE MARK THIS CLEARLY ON ENTRY FORM (as the class numbers remain the same). 4. There will be a Repertoire section in the Modern section (to be danced as a heat ), ages 15-16, 17-18, 19 & over/students. 5. Rule 27 on page 9 in the Dance Syllabus regarding Finals winners very important. 6. Teachers who teach boys / males, please take note of rule re. sets and own choices. 7. All classical own choices from age 14 years and older MUST be danced en-pointe (ballet section). No pointe work for 12 & unders for any section, except Repertoire. 13 years is still optional. STUDIO SET DANCE A studio set dance section has been added (all ages demi-character Ballet / all ages character Stagebranch). Please note NO classical or straight sections. All candidates from 5-6 years may choose to do either the Eisteddfod set or the studio set dance (may not do both). All candidates 7-10 years may do two of the three set dances choosing from Eisteddfod classical (straight) / demi-character (character) / studio set. From 11 years and over all set choices may be entered. DESCRIPTION OF STUDIO SET DANCE a. A demi-character / character dance, which may not be longer than 1½ minutes (5-10 years) and no longer than 2 minutes (11 and over). b. Multiple age groups in a class may enter the same dance, but they must be entered in their own age categories. c. Teachers will be responsible will be responsible for bringing a CD of studio set dance music to the Eisteddfod. d. Heats will comprise of mixed studio’s as for normal sets (depending on entries). e. There will be no regulation on costume choice for studio sets. PROVISIONAL DATES Ballet - 27th April – 9th May Stage Branch - 18th May – 30th May 1 REPERTOIRE COMPETITION After a very successful inaugural competition in 2014, it has been decided to keep this event as a highlight of the 2015 Eisteddfod. This will take place on Saturday 2nd May 2015 (evening session). Refer to page 17 of the dance syllabus for full details. The only change will be that NO REPORTS will be written, but they will still get results as per last year. Prize money has been increased. We are thrilled to be able to bring a competition of this nature to the teachers and dancers. Teachers, please let your students know so that they may attend this exciting event.
