Robyn confirmed for Rock in Rio 2015
Robyn confirmed for Rock in Rio 2015 Swedish singer to play on September 27, the same night as A-ha and Katy Perry Rio de Janeiro, March 31, 2015 – Another hit pop attraction has just been confirmed for the Rock in Rio line-up, in September, in the City of Rock. Swedish singer Robyn will perform on the World Stage on September 27, prior to A-Ha and the headliner of the night, Katy Perry. A four-time Swedish Grammy winner, Robyn released her first album, Robyn Is Here in the early 1990s, when she was only 16. The album's success earned her top slot in Swedish charts. Her hits, Do You Know (What It Takes) and Show Me Love, made it to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA. Robyn's work goes beyond the stage: the singer has also been a UNICEF ambassador since 1999. In 2005, with the release of her fourth album, the self-titled Robyn, the artist won the Swedish Grammy for Best Album, Best Female Pop Vocal and Best Composer. Five years later, Robyn promoted an ambitious music project, releasing the album trilogy Body Talk – all the mini albums were released in the same year. Robyn has previously toured alongside Coldplay and collaborated with Snoop Dogg. Last year she released, Do It Again, with the duo Röyksopp, a blend of electronic pop music. The Brazilian edition of Rock in Rio is confirmed for September 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27 at the City of Rock, in Rio de Janeiro (Parque dos Atletas - Av. Salvador Allende, no number), on an area covering more than 150,000 m2. Initial artists include Katy Perry, System Of A Down, AHa, Queens of the Stone Age, Faith No More, Hollywood Vampires, Metallica, Queen + Adam Lambert, De La Tierra, Mastodon, Sam Smith, Rihanna, Rod Stewart, and Slipknot, among other playing on the World Stage. John Legend, Korn, Lenine, Erasmo Carlos, Magic!, Deftones, Steve Vai and Sérgio Mendes are just some of the acts confirmed for the Sunset Stage line-up. About Rock in Rio With a history spanning 30 years, Rock in Rio is the world's largest music and entertainment event for a number of reasons. The festival has already celebrated 14 editions, five in Brazil (1985, 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2013), six in Portugal (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014) and three in Spain (2008, 2010 and 2012). In 2015, Rock in Rio will take place for the first time in Las Vegas, USA, in May. In September, the sixth edition in Brazil will be staged at the City of Rock. Combining all past editions, over 7.5 million people have take part in the event. Another continuously growing number is related to social networks, on which Rock in Rio is breaking records, with over 11 million followers. In terms of attractions, combining the Brazilian, Portuguese and Spanish editions, over 1,274 music acts have performed on the stages of Rock in Rio, totaling some 1,200 hours of music, broadcast to 1 billion viewers around practically the whole world, via TV and Internet. Over the years, more than US$ 530 million has been invested in the brand. Also, more than BRL 23.2 million has been invested in social and environmental projects. More important than the audience rates and significant investments, Rock in Rio has aided the economy of its host cities: more than 148,000 jobs have been generated over the past 29 years. In Spain, the festival is Top of Mind, beating even Formula 1. At the 2013 edition, 46% of the audience at Rock in Rio was from outside of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The economic impact of the 2013 edition in the city, published by Riotur, was BRL 1 billion, and the occupation rate in hotels was around 90%.
