Students will work in groups and develop a management plan with eco-system and disaster resilience as inherent considerations Day 16 Saturday 6/20/201 5 09:0016:00 Student's presentation Sunday 21/6/201 5 80 Interactive session Discussion Home work Risk Sensitive Environmental Management: Study of Himalayan Ecosystem SS15 INSTRUCTORS HARI KRISHNA NIBANUPUDI: Key facilitator of the course who will provide over all conceptual leadership and guide the students to achieve course objectives A recent recipient of Mary Fran Myers (MFM) Global scholarship for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Mr. Hari Krishna Nibanupudi currently serves UNDP as a Team Leader Disaster Risk Reduction in the Philippines. Prior to this, he served at International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) as a Senior DRR Specialist. His work involved guiding and supporting a number of DRR projects ranging from community & eco system resilience to regional cooperation, covering eight countries in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. Earlier, he worked with World Bank Institute, Oxfam, and Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad (IIMA). Mr. Krishna has commissioned and coordinated over 30 humanitarian research projects and published over a dozen of disaster risk reduction tool kits, handbooks, training manuals and videos. Many of these research studies were aimed at providing real time research and evaluation support to ongoing programs in South Asian countries. Mr. Krishna has conducted impact evaluation studies for Oxfam, CARE, UNICEF, Welt Hunger Hilfe (WHH), etc. As a trainer, facilitator and resource person for over a decade, Mr. Krishna assisted World Bank Institute’s eLearning programs on DRR and also contributed to the capacity building of national institutions, civil servants and NGOs in South and South East Asia. SHELLY KULSHRESTHA: CEPT Faculty who will cover sessions to students develops conceptual connection between urban planning and resilience. This faculty member will also manage Internal and external coordination. Shelly Kulshrestha is an architect- environmental planner working as senior academic associate at the Faculty of Management, CEPT University. She has over thirteen years’ experience in multi-sectorial areas of planning and management. As a consultant to The World Bank Institute, she was involved in designing and facilitation of online courses on disaster risk management. Her recent work has been in urban management and strategic development plans. PARNASRI RAY CHOUDHURY This resource person will teach topics related to disaster risk reduction contribute to material preparation for the course.
