CFBK Awarded For Financial Literacy Program
Columbia, TN – April 8, 2015 – Tennessee Bankers Association will award Community First Bank & Trust
for Outstanding Bank Participation through Tennessee Banker’s Personal Economics Program (PEP)
during the Young Bankers Division ceremony at the Leadership Convention. The convention will be held
in Memphis, TN later this month. Bankers, Dianne Scroggins and Carma Barksdale will receive special
recognition for exceeding the goal for number of presentations.
Community First Bank & Trust bank employees, primarily by Barksdale and Scroggins,
taught 75 classes, reaching over 2,200 children and adults to educate the community in
the areas of saving, budgeting and managing credit. The program was put together in
response to the urgent need for consumers to better understand their finances, build
credit and qualify for loans. Community First Bank & Trust is actively calling on local
organizations in order to offer these programs and increase financial literacy
throughout the areas in Maury, Hickman and Williamson counties.
“As a community bank, a key component of our mission is to focus on the long-term
future not just of the Bank, but also of the communities we serve, and to improve the
quality of life for all those within those communities,” said Louis Holloway, president
and CEO. “We offer a number of programs throughout the year to teach various
segments of our communities about the importance of solid money management
skills.”
Community First Bank’s financial literacy program includes topics such as budgeting and
saving, managing a checking account, buying your first home, credit, identity fraud, and
how to plan for a financial disaster. The Bank focuses outreach to people of all ages in
the community including young children, teens, young adults and the elderly.
