Pray, Serve, Grow
The Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Nicholas is urging all in the
Diocese to Pray, to Serve, to Grow and thus Renew our Hope as a
Christian
community. We have a group of people in the Valley
who do just that!
Our LPAs (Lay Pastoral Assistants) they pray together and with
people they visit, they serve our communities by visiting those in
need thus growing our communities of faith. Their ministries are
deep and varied ranging between visiting the housebound and those
in hospital, helping at Mothers and Toddlers groups, helping at teas
and lunches for various groups, distributing Holy Communion and a
thousand other things!
We have 9 LPAs in the Chalke Valley who are about to be joined by
three more, Caroline Dutson, Hilary Brown and Marian Hearne who
have been in training since March. They will be commissioned at a
special service on June 1st at 6.30 in St Andrew’s Church in Nunton
by our Archdeacon, the Ven Alan Jeans. I very much hope that as
many of you as possible can join us at this service – you are all very welcome.
As we prepare to welcome our new Team Rector, Catherine, to complete our Clergy team we
continue to be so grateful to those who are part of our Valley Ministry team – the LPAs have been
and will continue to be a valuable link between all our communities and our clergy.
Don’t forget Monday 1st June at 6.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Nunton!
If you would like or know someone who would appreciate a visit please contact Revd Jenny
Taylor on 01722 503081.
