A Special Thanks from Nelda:
A big thanks to everyone who helped make the TNT ministry a success this last
year.
A special thanks to my co-workers: Virginia Bryant, Linda Edelstein, Linda Wright
and Cecilia Boutwell. Without these wonderful ladies, the meals would not have
gotten off the ground.
A personal thanks to everyone for the lovely flowers, cards, cakes and monetary gift
I received. It was so thoughtful of everyone!
Again, thank you so much for all of your help and support. If you have not been to
TNT on Wednesday evenings, give us a try beginning again in September! There is
lots of food, fun and fellowship!
Some Thoughts from Pastor Jane
Today is a very special day in the life of our Church. At our 8:30 service, we honor our two graduating
seniors, Craig Despain, Jr. and Matthew Garrett. After having very successful high school careers, both of
these young men are college-bound. No doubt they will do great things for our world because of their
educations, but also because of their accompanying foundations of faith in God through Christ.
At our 11:00 service, we will confirm four of our young people and bring them into full professing
membership in Christ's holy church. We will confirm Talia Finley, Ryland Holt, Ben Perkins, and Kenny Ulibarri.
Confirmation is the time when those who have been through a period of specific instruction in discipleship,
come forward to proclaim their own faith in God through Christ, having been instructed and nurtured in that
faith since their baptisms by their immediate families at home and by their extended church families. It is the
point at which they profess that they are ready to assume their individual responsibilities to be active disciples
for Jesus Christ, as reflected in the vows which they take today.
Both of these celebrations recognize those times when people make transitions from one place in life to
another. While we celebrate these young people's accomplishments today, what we really do is affirm how
God's grace has already worked to bring them to this point of transition, and affirm our belief that God will
continue to do so in each of their futures. In your prayers today I especially encourage you to pray for these
young people, that they would hold fast to their faith beliefs, and trust God to continue to lead them in the
path that lies ahead.
As a worshiping congregation, we not only act as supportive witnesses, we participate in what takes
place today. We, too, affirm how God has brought each of us through the many transitions of our lives, and
profess our own faith in God's continuing works of grace as we look to our respective futures. My prayer is
that through our worship services today, you will be encouraged as you recognize God's grace in your own
walk of faith.
Following our 11:00 service today, we will gather in Fellowship Hall to enjoy our 3rd Annual Church
Fish Fry. Please join me in thanking Mike and Donna Herbert for providing the fish. We offer special thanks to
all who have brought side dishes and desserts for the day. If you signed up to set up or clean up, we also
especially thank you for your help!
As the summer is now upon us, our weekly schedule will change, but there will be many special events
coming up throughout the next two to three months. Please watch your monthly newsletter, and your weekly
News for the Pews, for information. You may also want to stay in touch by going to our Facebook page and to
our website, www.chinaspringumc.com
Welcome to all who worship here today. All are always welcome at China Spring UMC!
For the month of June we will collect the following items:
rice, canned meats, macaroni & cheese and peanut butter and jelly.
for Caritas.
Please bring items to the fellowship hall. We have collected 561 lbs. so far this year.
