FOR FURTHER INFORMATION
Another year has raced by and once again the Annual
Book Sale was upon us.
Customers again queued from 3.00 p.m. for the
Preview Sale on Thursday night and from 7.00 a.m. on
Friday morning for the public sale. Within 5 minutes
of opening the doors on the Friday morning, the first
sale was made and by 9.10 a.m. 240 people had
entered the Book Sale.
Over the three days 5000 customers made 3231
sales choosing from 55,000 books.
The first area to sell out was the magazines - well
done Sharon. This year we trialled a new layout with
the premium stock tables set up like coffee tables so
it was easier for our customers to look at the books.
The Friends of the Library volunteers had trouble
opening the boxes up quickly enough as the books
were walking out the door!
Thanks go to:
 Anne Hayes and the team at Pioneer Stadium
 Simon and Katie from DLS
 Barbara Clarke and all The Friends of the Library
volunteers
 Guy, Siobhan, Karen, Penny, Fiona and Kathryn from
the Content teams and
 Sharon for picking up everything I missed to
ensure the Book Sale ran so smoothly.
Jane Hackett Book Sale Coordinator.
People brought sack barrows, suitcases, back packs and boxes to carry
their books out. Matt had the best
back pack!

I went where my husband's work
took him including almost a
decade in Polynesia. We were
surrounded by never-ending sea –
I can still feel the joy of watching
the monthly ship arrive and the
desolation of seeing it leave, so
when I decided to write fiction,
Polynesia felt the obvious setting.
