Peter’s Pence Collection This Weekend:
Today, we are supporting Pope Francis in his charitable works. The Peter’s Pence
Collection is taken up worldwide to support the most disadvantaged: victims of war,
oppression, and natural disasters. This is an opportunity to join with our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and be a witness of charity to our suffering brothers and sisters.
Please be as generous as you can today.
Youth Ministry News:
We’ve been hard at work to make sure that our Color Run doesn’t run out of steam!
We’ve revamped the course in order to make our bureaucratic friends happy and
have now scheduled this event for Sunday, August 2nd beginning at 8:00 a.m.!
Stay tuned for more details soon!
Proper Attire For Church:
Please dress respectfully for Mass. Low cut, cropped or revealing tops, tanks or
“T’s”, short shorts and short skirts, torn, ripped and tight jeans on men and women
are not appropriate attire for church. Parents, please remind your children to honor
our sacred space.
Faith Formation Series at Holy Angels:
Deacon Bruce is offering an adult continuing faith formation series titled, “Nuts &
Bolts of the Catholic Church”. Beginning on July 15th, this series will meet on
Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Each week, we will have
a short discussion on the topic of the night, followed by a question and answer session where you can ask any question about the Catholic Church, our faith,, our history, or anything relating to our faith. Deacon Bruce will answer them all! Topics will
include: “Annulment: is it Catholic Divorce?”, “Prayer: In All its Forms”, Catholic Liturgy and the Mass”, the Bible: God’s Love Story To Us”, and “Pope Francis and The
Church: Going Back to the Future”. Come to one, two or all of the sessions and
bring your questions. For more information, please contact Deacon Bruce at the
Parish Office by calling (626) 447-1671. All are welcome.
Separated, Divorced & Widowed Ministry:
The Archdiocesan Office of Family Life is offering a workshop for separated,
divorced and widowed Catholics on Saturday, July 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00
p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The day includes a tour of the
Cathedral, Mass, lunch and the workshop, titled “Finding God’s Plan for Me,
Amidst Life’s Losses”. The purpose of the workshop is to look at life’s losses
(separation, divorce or death of a spouse) that challenge us to learn more about
living and healing through God’s love and grace. Cost is $25.00. For additional
information, or to reserve your place, please contact Julie Auzenne at (213) 6377249 or e-mail: jmonell@la-archdiocese.org for the registration form.
Pueri Cantores Looking For New Members:
Pueri Cantores San Gabriel Valley, a regional choir of children and youth, is welcoming new members. Formed in 1993, PCSGV rehearses locally for their annual concert series, tours, recordings and other exciting singing opportunities.
Members range in age from 7 to 18 years old and are now preparing for their
eighth international tour. This choir has been invited to be the first ensemble of
American singers ever to sing with the Sistine Chapel Choir and will sing Mass
in Rome with Pope Francis on January 6, 2016. For more information, please
call (626) 918-3994 or (626) 374-2410.
Bosco Tech Offering Basketball Skills Camp:
Don Bosco Technical Institute will offer a 4-week intensive basketball skills
camp for boys and girls in grades 4-9, beginning Monday, June 29th. The camp
will focus on skill development, good practice habits and drills. Cost is $175 per
participant and sessions run from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for grades 4 to 8 and 3:00 to
4:30 p.m. for grade 9. To register, please contact Coach Sermeno at (626) 9402100 or go to: dsermeno@boscotech.edu.
13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Did You Know?
Parents and caregivers should stress that a child’s entire body is private and be
watchful of adults who might be “grooming” a child by constantly tickling, kissing, or hugging them. A child will often tell a parent he or she does not want to
hug or kiss someone—and parents should listen and respect their wishes. By
teaching “total body safety” to adults, children and young people, we are furthering our efforts to stop abuse and to make the world a safer place for all of God’s
children. For a copy of the VIRTUS article, “Beyond the Myth of the Bathing
Suit”, e-mail: jvienna@la-archdiocese.org.
