This newsletter is coordinated and distributed by
Woodbury Parks and Recreation and is a collaboration of information,
programs and events for older adults by various organizations.
Woodbury Senior Citizens Group
The Woodbury Senior Citizens Group activities listed below are open to all seniors, especially those who enjoy a
delicious lunch, an entertaining program and friendly people!
Daytrippers Theater “Social Security” Trip
Bus will leave Woodbury Central Park (east entrance/parking lot) at 11 a.m. At 12:15 p.m. enjoy a buffet lunch
of Champagne chicken, pork stir fry, tossed salad, pickled beet salad, corn, wild rice blend, rolls and mandarin
orange cake with coffee or tea. After lunch at 1:15 p.m. you’ll enjoy the show “Social Security”. It is a story of a
man and wife living in New York having a heck of a time with their in-laws.

St. Paul Union Depot Tour with Lunch at Christo’s in the Depot
Bus will leave Woodbury Central Park (east entrance/parking lot) at 11:00 a.m. At 12 p.m. enjoy a buffet lunch
of homemade soup, 4-5 entrees, vegetable, potato, rice, salad and dessert plus soda, coffee or tea. At 1:30 p.m.
you will meet at the East Clock in the Headhouse and take an hour long walking tour of the historic St. Paul
Union Depot.

Red Hat Regal Choir
Meet in the Valley Creek Room at Woodbury Central Park at 11:30 a.m. for a half-hour social hour, lunch ()
catered by Angelina’s at noon prefaced by announcements, and followed by a performance by the Red Hat
Regal Choir.

Bridge, 500 and Mah-Jongg at Woodbury Central Park
Anyone who plays organized Bridge, 500 or Mah-Jongg in the rooms at Central Park will be charged an annual
$10 fee. Make checks payable to City of Woodbury. Contact Polly Blom with questions at (651) 714-3585 or

Sessions will not meet April 9-10 (Library Book Sale) and May 25 (Memorial Day)
Bridge Lessons
The Woodbury Bridge Club offers social bridge and lessons on Mondays in the Valley Creek Room B. Play
begins at 9 a.m. with formal lessons at ll:30 a.m. Lessons are offered for all level of players. There is a
$10 joining fee payable to the Woodbury Bridge Club. The normal format is chat bridge which means players
are able to ask what a bid means and ask questions during the play of the hand; however, some regular
partnerships have a more competitive style of play. The first Monday of the month is our Monday Morning
Mixer which offers fun bridge with rotation of partners and special treats.

Driver Improvement Program
A Minnesota Highway Safety certified instructor teaches this driver safety course. First time participants must
complete two 4-hour sessions. Repeat persons are required to take a 4-hour refresher. The fee for the 4-hour
is $20; 8-hour course fee is $24 which is paid to the instructor when you attend the class. Courses take place at
Woodbury Central Park, 8595 Central park Place, in Valley Creek Room B.

Pickleball
Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton sized court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the
center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles.
It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced
players. Though extremely popular with the 55+ group all ages are welcome

Experienced player will teach you the game and the rules. Equipment will be provided or bring your own.

Strength Training for Seniors
$48 members/$96 non-members, Wednesdays, Apr 15– May 20, 12-1pm for 6 weeks
A personal trainer will help you learn to use the weight machines upstairs in the Fitness Center. After completing
this class you will have an exercise program that you can use for weeks to come. This is a small group class. If you

Tai Chi for Health (Sun 21)
Free for members/$42 non-members, Tuesdays, April 14-May 26; 10:30-11:30 am for 7 weeks

Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise that will help you develop harmony between mind an body. Our
instructor will teach you the slow relaxing movements that are part of this very popular practice. No experience

Living Life to the Fullest……Another reason Y

The Y and Woodbury Parks & Recreation and will be having activities for our active older
adults at both the YMCA and Central Park.
Lots of activities are being planned for this day which includes a full day open house
(come use the YMCA for free this day), vendors that support our theme, speakers and
activities planned throughout the day. We plan to have our vendors set up in the main
area of Central park from 10am-12pm.
Watch for flyers and more information will be posted at the Y and Central Park.
