Lynn’s Pen
Wedding photo’s, bridal dresses
and tuxedo needed: As we prepare for the
month of June we ask each of you to bring your
wedding picture to the Front Desk . We will make a
copy of it and return your original to you. We will
have a wedding dinner party and would like to display
wedding dresses and a tux. Please talk with Lynn
Mayer if you have a wedding gown or tux that we
could display at the dinner for a couple of hours.
Manipulation is a card game. Join others as
they have a good time playing Manipulation ON
Sundays at 3:00 in the card room.
Stationery Bike: Please note that when you
ride the stationery bike with the arm handles in our
Fitness Center that not only should you adjust the seat
to be able to reach the foot peddles , but the arm
handles adjust also. If you do not know how to
unscrew the knobs on the bar for the handles and
move the bar, please ask Lynn Mayer to show you.
This will make it easier and you will want to adjust the
foot peddles and arms handles to fit your body. We
always adjust the rearview mirror in a car when
someone else drives it before us so the same principle
applies.
Season tickets:
This summer watch the
calendar for Coffee Chats with guest speakers
bringing the season ticket lineup for theatres, the
Atlanta and DeKalb Symphony concert schedules.
Group sales for The GA Ensemble Theatre will be at
Coffee Chat on Wednesday, May 20. Come hear
about the season and pick up forms for your season

you have visited other theaters and seen good

It’s a rare person who doesn’t get discouraged.
Whether it happens to us or to an associate we’re
trying to cheer up, the answer centers around one
word: perseverance.
The value of courage, persistence, and
perseverance has rarely been illustrated more
convincingly than the life story of this man (his age
appears in the column on the right):

Bits and Pieces, Vol. R/No. 10. p. 5
Golfer Arnold Palmer has never flaunted his success.
Although he has won hundreds of trophies and awards,
the only trophy in his office is a battered little cup that he
got for his first professional win at the Canadian Open in
1955. In addition to the cup, he has a lone framed plaque
on the wall. The plaque tells you why he has been
successful on and off the golf course. It reads:
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost certain that you won’t.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger woman or man,
But sooner or later, whose who win
Are those who think they can.
Bits and Pieces, Vol. R/No. 10. p. 11
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “fifth of May) is a
celebration held on May 5. it is celebrated nationwide in
the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in
the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Dia de la
Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of
Puebla). The date is observed in the United States as a
celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of
Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican
army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of
Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General
Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. Contrary to widespread,
popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s
Independence Day—the most important national patriotic
holiday in Mexico—which is actually celebrated on
September 16.
