WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Clenchwarton Primary School Thursday 5th March 2015 Spring Term Consultations and Reports Your child’s main school report will be sent home on 12th March (except for Reception class, who will receive their main report in July). This report will be followed up by an updated attainment profile in July, giving full details of the National Curriculum levels your child has attained during the year. The consultations for parents are on the following dates: 17th March: 4.00-7.20pm 19th March: 3.30-4.50pm A parental consultation booking form has been sent home today with your child. If you have more than one child could you please use a separate sheet for each one. Lateness Due to an increasing number of children arriving late, could I please remind you that school starts at 8.50am. Cross country A massive well done to Matthew Bocking (year 6) and Harvey Counsell ( year 4) for their amazing efforts in the cross country on Monday 2nd March. Both just missed out on the next round by 7 places. Well done boys. Red Nose Day - Friday 13th March Come to school in non-uniform (please wear something red), or dress opposite: (Do something funny for money), girls dressed as boys, boys dressed as girls! 50p each or £1 per family. We would like to ask for donations of cakes for us to sell at the end of the day – bought in on the Friday morning please. Pay 20p to enter our individual face selfie competition - take a picture of your face, print it off and bring into school by Thursday 12th March. If you would like to enter but are unable to bring in a photo then please see a member of Y6 School Council – Tobias, Jorja, Nathan, Flynn or Mrs Bloodworth. Prizes – 1st = £10 book voucher: 2nd (x2) = £5 book voucher. NB. Apologies if the above was not made clear but the selfie should be an individual picture not a group. For those people who have already entered the competition, you can either have your money back or you can bring in another photo of yourself. We will also be selling red noses (as soon as they arrive) for £1 each. Thank you for your continued support. In the afternoon, Mrs Lawrence will be organising a Gallopathon around the school playgrounds, in the style of Miranda Hart. The main Gallopathon is taking place on March 7th in London. Please collect sponsors for our event as the person who raises the most money will win a Red Nose Day Prize – a sponsor form is attached at the end of this newsletter. Please send in sponsor money the week after the event (by 20th March) to be in with a chance of winning the Red Nose day prize. World Day A fantastic day was had by all yesterday for our World Day. The children thoroughly enjoyed the dancing and music, so thank you to Unique Dance (Zoe Bull) and C.E.A.M.S. (Jon Lawrence) for their enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge that they shared. Many wonderful activities were being carried out in classrooms; the small selection that I saw were Reception creating their own rockets for their topic of Space, Year 1 using bright coloured pastels and felt tips to create pop art relating to The Beatles, Year 2 creating very dramatic shadow pictures for Africa, Year 3 designing beautiful propaganda posters and using charcoal in the afternoon to complete eye opening pictures relating to World War 1, Year 4 making their own board games, not an electronic in sight, for their topic of '100 years ago', Year 5 making very intricate brooches using match sticks and tin foil and Year 6 creating their own little drama sketches based on the Slave Trade. Both staff and children had a thoroughly enjoyable day. I hope they came home telling you their new knowledge. Thank you to all the staff, and to your children, for their participation and effort making this day a success. Mrs Lawrence Attendance Year R had the best attendance last week with 99.1%. Well done.
