Invincible. The next generation of thermoset matrix resins
Invincible. The next generation of thermoset matrix resins CALIDUR® polyetheramide resins CALIDUR® is a new class of thermoset matrix resins that combines the high flame retardancy of phenolic resins with the mechanical properties of high TG epoxy resins. Benefits CALIDUR® provides much greater design flexibility for carbon fiber and glass fiber composite structures in aircraft and other transportation interior applications. Properties • Intrinsic FST performance • High TG • Excellent surface quality Processing • Rapid processing and curing • Formaldehyde-free • Thermoformable • Storage-stable at 8°C CALIDUR® is supplied as a resin solution or in powder form. Prepregs with various fiber reinforcements are available via our partner c-m-p GmbH. Prepreg production Drying Dry fabric Resin solution Impregnated fabric Dry prepreg Parts production Autoclave Compression molding press Our Partner 2 In addition to enabling short production cycles, CALIDUR® does not require binders while providing greater flexibility across a wide range of curing temperatures. With a very low shrinkage of < 0.5 % and superior characteristics compared to stateof-the-art phenolic compounds, CALIDUR® also demonstrates very good mechanical properties. Prepreg characteristics Tackiness No tack Storage stability Stable for at least 6 months at 8°C Curing cycle Wide range of curing conditions possible TG after curing (30 mins at 150°C)* DSC 152°C TG after curing (10 mins at 180°C) DSC 163°C * TG after curing (45 mins at 180°C) * * DSC 187°C 1 layer glass fiber prepreg (300gsm, E-Glass HexForce 07781, 8H satin) 3 CALIDUR® meets both Airbus FST (ABD0031) and FAA requirements, and is competitive with phenolic resin. Phenolic Resins Market Analysis Forecast to 2020 by P&S Market Research
The key drivers behind the growing demand of global phenolic resins include growing demand from construction and transports application, and increased usage of fire retardant materials in automotive and aircraft components. However, the volatility in crude oil prices is expected to restrain the growth of the global phenolic resins market, as crude oil is a major raw material needed for the manufacturing of phenolic resins.
