Elevate Sunday is back for Term
2 @ 9am, downstairs in the youth room. Today we are launching our new series "I AM". Come along and enjoy a great time
of interactive discussion about what it means to follow and
develop our relationship with “I AM”
WHAT IS J TEAM? J team is for ages 3 years to Yr 6 at
9am & 11am services during term time.
We have two age groups at J team at both our
services 9am-10.15am and 11am- 12.20pm
This term we have been looking at New Testament stories from The Jesus Storybook Bible. Today is the story of Calming the Storm.
What the disciples do not understand is that Jesus is perfect and powerful in every
way. Jesus can do things that we can’t. He has power over sickness and death and
He has power over storms and over nature. We can trust Jesus and have faith in
Him completely. There is nothing to be afraid of, because Jesus is always with everyone who trusts and believes in Him.
Message from Vicar Sarah Patten
Dear church family,
Prayer is a powerful thing. For some reason
God loves to collaborate with us on His
Kingdom building projects, and to take an
interest in our lives. We also know that for
some reason fasting increases the power of
prayer. (Jesus once told his disciples about a
demon that only comes out through prayer
AND fasting).
Paul talks about putting on the armour of
God in Ephesians and then he goes on to
say ‘And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers and requests. With
this in mind, be alert and always keep on
praying for all the Lord’s people.’
This is a time in church life when we are feeling the call to prayer again. We are praying
for John Mynett, for Phil Clark and for many
others who need healing in our congregation. Many of us were praying for the team
at the Holisitic fair on Sunday, and there are
some amazing testimonies coming out of
that.
God gives us permission to ask for anything,
but He doesn’t promise always to give us
what we ask for. We do know though that if
we don’t ask, we can’t receive. So we need
to keep on asking because we know God is at
work, not always in the way we expect, but
He can bring good out of the darkest
situation. He can turn around relationships,

With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
He can heal, and I can tell you stories of
people who have experienced this first
hand.
Yes there are times when we ask and are
disappointed, but there are many times
when we ask and it is given. There are
people alive in church today because of
healing miracles. We don’t always see
them, but we are committed to asking
because we never know what might
happen next.
We should have confidence in prayer,
especially when praying for people outside
the church, as most of the New Testament
miracles were people who really didn’t
know Jesus well!
Let’s make prayer our priority this week,
and you may choose to fast as well!
With love and blessings
Sarah

On this week
Tear Fund Earthquake Appeal. Last Sunday
morning the world woke up to the news that
a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake had
struck near the densely populated area of
Kathmandu. The death toll is quickly climbing
and has already reached over 3,600.
With communications down and many
poorly constructed buildings, the toll is
expected to be much higher as more information filters through. Sadly with its narrow
cobblestone streets and ancient construction, it is very difficult to work in the area of
Nepal now the worst has happened.
The Nepal Government has declared a State
of Emergency and has called for immediate
assistance.
TEAR Fund is responding through established
partners on the ground and through the
Integral Alliance (a network of 25 Christian
disaster response agencies).
The immediate needs are:
 Temporary Shelter (many homes are
destroyed or people are too scared to return
to homes)
 Medical (especially for crush injuries)
 Water and Sanitation
 Emergency Food and Relief Aid
