DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS (Full Time)
The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, founded in 1964, is a public foundation and the
Winnipeg Jewish community’s endowment fund, with assets in excess of $95 million.
In keeping with our Jewish heritage and values, the Foundation encourages and facilitates
the creation and growth of endowment funds to enable the community to realize its
potential. The Foundation maintains effective stewardship over all assets entrusted to it;
distributes grants that reflect donors’ wishes and community priorities; and provides
leadership in both the Jewish and general communities.
The Foundation is currently encouraging a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic individual
with unlimited imagination to play a vital and significant role as the Director of Marketing
and Communications. You are an experienced, strategic, and highly-skilled Marketing and
Communications professional. You will be joining an office of 11 staff in sharing and
vigorously implementing our mission in a collaborative environment. You are passionate

Duties and Responsibilities – An Opportunity to Grow as a Professional
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Marketing and Communications
has a critical role to play as an integral member of a small, high-performing team by
focusing on increasing awareness among the Foundation’s constituents of its role in the
community. Marketing and Communications activities are planned and implemented in
order to support the Foundation’s strategic objectives and to strengthen its position as a
leader in the community:

Plan, produce, and implement an annual operational timeline and a long-term
Marketing and Communications strategy and for the Foundation;

Develop, implement, and monitor systems and procedures necessary for the effective
and efficient operation of the Marketing and Communications department;

Work closely with the Foundation’s Development and Gift Planning team to help meet
their objectives with appropriate tools, materials, and presentations;
-
Develop and monitor financial budgets for the Marketing and Communications
department;
-
Develop and direct the production and management of promotional materials and
other items including, but not limited to, brochures, newsletters, e-mail newsletters,
event invitations, correspondence, signage, posters, speeches, and the annual report;
-
Enhance and maintain the Foundation’s website and online presence, including blog
entries and other content updates;
-
As part of the overall Marketing and Communications strategy, manage the
Foundation’s social media presence and direct initiatives to improve social media
performance;
-
Ensure consistent articulation of the Foundation’s desired image and position
throughout the organization and the community, including all print and electronic
materials, administrative documents, and correspondence.

Creatively educate the public about endowment giving and the role of the Foundation
in the community;
-
Develop and coordinate publicity initiatives for Foundation events;
-
Develop and oversee all materials being sent by the Foundation to individual donors or
potential donors;
-
Develop and oversee all materials being sent by the Foundation to potential event
sponsors;
-
Maintain an ongoing relationship with the media;
-
Develop, coordinate, and purchase advertising on the Foundation’s behalf in support of
marketing and communications initiatives;
-
Develop and coordinate marketing and communications activities to solicit appropriate
grant and scholarship applications;
-
Develop and maintain relationships with external suppliers who contribute to the
Foundation’s marketing and communications initiatives, including, but not limited to
photographers, designers, writers, printers, proofreaders, and signage providers.

Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing and communications and the
specific business of the Foundation, and use this information to help the Foundation
demonstrate initiative and innovation;

Coordinate the production of PowerPoint presentations as required for events and
meetings;
-
Create and manage a repository of relevant photographs, videos, and other
memorabilia that reflect the Foundation’s impact through grants, scholarships, and
public events;
-
Provide ongoing support, mentorship, advice, expertise, materials, and tools to the
various areas of the Foundation in support of its mission.
Qualifications and Skills
Significant qualifications include:
-
Appropriate post-secondary education in marketing and/or communications;
-
A minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in a not-for-profit/charitable
organization;
-
Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience with the application of
marketing and communication strategies, best practice, and brand-building;
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and oral);
-
Familiarity with the Jewish community and with the local non-for-profit sector;
-
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
with a minimum of supervision;
-
Ability to build effective relationships within and outside the Foundation (including
the media) and work collaboratively to drive results;
-
Ability to develop and implement marketing and communication strategies within
the context of social media;
-
Knowledge of, and experience with, graphic design, commercial printing, and web
site development/management;
-
Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office;
-
Knowledge of and experience with Raiser’s Edge software would be an asset.

Salary and Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with experience. The Foundation offers a comprehensive
benefits package including medical, dental, and pension.
