This workshop is designed for family physicians and other primary care
practitioners involved in the care of patients with common rheumatology issues.
There is a strong focus on exam skills, initial treatment and when to refer.
Participants are required to watch a number of podcasts prior to the hands-on
workshop. In this Mainpro-C course, participants also have the opportunities to
communicate individual learning needs as well as post-training reflection with
the experts.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
After completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
• screen for inflammatory diseases using the GALS musculoskeletal examination
• recognize appropriate Rheumatology diagnostic testing based on the patient
presentation
• identify joint injection landmarks and properly perform the procedure

• In each hour of small group sessions, there will be two simultaneous groups on a same
topic. There will be no more than eight participants in each small group.

This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians
of Canada and has been accredited for up to 6.0 MAINPRO-C credits.
For those participants who do not complete the post-workshop reflective
activity, they can only claim up to 6.0 MAINPRO-M1 credits.
Dress is business casual. Sweaters or items of clothing that
can be layered are recommended since temperature in the
venue may fluctuate.

In general, each course offers a light breakfast, nutrition
break(s) and lunch. We are unable to accommodate special
dietary restrictions (for example, gluten free, peanut allergies).
