Save Your Item Save your item by clicking 13 | Page EADMS Manuals Local Item Editor Auto Score Constructed Response (similar to Constructed Response Item Type) Choose Auto Score Constructed Response from the list of Item Types and complete the Item Information and Item Standards. The main difference between the Constructed Response Item Type and the Auto Score Constructed Response Item Type is the ability to add an Auto Score Textbox. Type your stem and insert your cursor where you want to add your Auto Score Textbox, click the “Auto Score Textbox” button. 14 | Page Local Item Editor EADMS Manuals This will add an Auto Score Field which allows you to choose between Text, Integer, and Decimal. You can add more than one Auto Score Textbox and each one will have it’s own set of Auto Score Fields and Auto Score Instructions. Rubric The Rubric Type is Simple and the Bubble Group is 0-1 for this item type and cannot be changed. However, you can add scoring instructions and columns. Preview Your Item Preview your item by clicking either or . Save Your Item Save your item by clicking 15 | Page EADMS Manuals Local Item Editor Equation Numeric (similar to Constructed Response Item Type) Choose Equation Numeric from the list of Item Types and complete the Item Information and Item Standards. The main difference between the Constructed Response Item Type and the Equation Numeric Item Type is the ability to add an Auto Score Textbox, an Auto Score Equation Textbox, and an Equation Palette. In the example above the question asks “How many circles all together?”. This requires a short answer of 4.5 so you would use the Auto Score Texbox. The example then asks the student to “Write an equation to find the answer.” This requires the Auto Score Equation Textbox that allows the student to type in an equation. Equation Palette Use the dropdown menu to choose a grade level appropriate palette. You can also add characters to your palette, click in the box that says “add” and type any character or word that you want to appear in the student’s palette for this item. In the this example, I added the word “circles” to the palette. 16 | Page EADMS Manuals Local Item Editor Once you have added an Auto Score Textbox and an Auto Score Equation Textbox, two Fields will appear below the Stem/Prompt. In Field 1 under Auto Score Fields you will choose “Decimal” since the answer needs to be in Decimal form. In Field 2 under Auto Score Fields since this is an Auto Score Equation Textbox “Equation” is the only choice. In Field 1 under Auto Score Instructions you will enter 4.5 which is the only correct answer that will be accepted. If there was another possible answer you could click “Add Possible Value” to enter a second possible correct answer. In Field 2 under Auto Score Instructions you will click the “Edit” button which will bring up the Equation Palette and allow you to enter the correct answer as an equation. 17 | Page Local Item Editor EADMS Manuals Since there are more possible answers for this part of the Stem/Prompt, you need to add more values by clicking on “Add Possible Value” and entering different correct responses. You can add more than one Auto Score Textbox and/or an Auto Score Equation Textbox. Each box will have it’s own set of Auto Score Fields and Auto Score Instructions. Rubric The Rubric Type is Simple and the Bubble Group is 0-1 for this item type and cannot be changed. However, you can add scoring instructions and columns.
