Discovery Middle School’s Registration Packet for 8th Graders 2015-2016 School Year Dr. Dee Fowler, Superintendent of Madison City Schools Mrs. Melanie J. Barkley, Principal, Discovery Middle School Mrs. Heather Donaldson, Secondary Coordinator, Madison City Schools All students in the 7th and 8th grade will be enrolled in the following courses: English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, 9 Week PE, and electives. Since course selection is based on your pre-registration, please read the course descriptions carefully and make a firm commitment to the courses you mark on the course selection form. A student may request a schedule change through May 8. Students may pick up a schedule change request form in the counseling office at the school. A parent signature is required and a $25 processing fee is charged for all changes after May 8. Changes will be considered if the change is of an academic nature or if a school error exists. Other changes will only be made with the approval of the principal. All courses, including alternates, listed on the course selection sheet will be scheduled in priority order. Upon completion of a schedule update, the student will receive an accurate schedule at summer schedule pick up in July. Important Dates for School Year 2015-2016 Discovery Middle School July 23 – 8th Grade Schedule Pick-up - 9am until 1pm July 24 – 7th Grade Schedule Pick-up – 9am until 1pm July 27 – New Student Orientation – For students who have enrolled in MCS in the summer. 6pm in the DMS Library Aug. 2 – Open House (All Students) 2pm until 4pm- Assembly in Gym at 2pm *During schedule pick up students will be able to purchase lockers, planners, and PE uniforms. Nurse will also be available to accept medication.
