3 Day conference;
6 sessions focused on
“OPPORTUNITY,
MOBILITY AND
SUSTAINABILITY”: the
humanitarian aid and
development perspectives,
2 special sessions on role
of non-governmental
organizations.
DIHAD 2015 capitalized on existing
partnerships and past discussions in
an attempt to arrive at a number of
constructive conclusions. The event
also brought together international
agencies, governmental and
non-governmental organizations,
foundations & charities, the media
and academia, the corporate
sector, Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies as well as individual
practitioners and experts to
make valuable contributions to
the ongoing global discussions
on development goals, climate
change, disaster reduction, and
best practices in the realm of
humanitarian assistance.
The Dubai EXPO 2020 sub-themes
of “Opportunity”, “Mobility” and
“Sustainability” were the focus,
while the variety of perspectives on
these reflect the diversity, in terms
of knowledge and experience, of
the distinguished participants at
the Conference. While presentations
by high-level experts provided
the substantive backbone to all
Sessions, the Chairpersons ensured
there was due interaction among
the speakers and panelists at all
times.
3 Day session themes:
î Disaster reduction and preparedness
– opportunities
î Environmental protection and climate
change – opportunities
î Moving relief items, where/when
required, efficiently
î The forced displacement of persons,
causes and consequences
î Sustainable development, what
happens after 2015?
î Water and Energy: will we have
enough tomorrow?
HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi said: “Increased mobilisation of resources
around early warning for disaster reduction and preparedness strategies
will allow us to respond more effectively to future outbreaks. Mobility
as a theme serves as a fitting mantra for the
humanitarian and development communities.
Whether actors are mobilizing funding resources, or mobilizing disaster
reduction and preparedness strategies; this is an area in which we can
and should always be improving. Let us collectively mobilize for increased
impact of our aid.”
Objectives Achieved
“Our participation had a dual goal: to meet with
additional partners & vendors to expand our
network & procurement portfolio. Our participation
every year brings us great results for which we are
grateful to the organizers.”
