SINGAPORE’S TRANSPORT MINISTER
VISITS DP WORLD STAND AT SEA ASIA 2015
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 23 April 2015:- Jebel Ali Port’s new container Terminal 3
has been a major attraction at the Singapore’s Maritime Week, with visitors to DP World
stand including Singapore’s Minister of Transport HE Lui Tuck Yew.
As part of the Maritime Week, Abdulla Bin Damithan, Commercial Director, DP World, UAE
Region, participated as a key speaker at the Container Supply Chain Conference, TOC Asia
2015, and received delegations at Sea Asia 2015, the 3-day cornerstone event of Maritime
Week.
DP World is participating in the international conference and exhibition, which opened on
Tuesday, with a major pavilion showcasing the company and the UAE.
HE Minister of Transport was briefed by Mr Bin Damithan on the company’s expansion plans
and shown details of Jebel Ali as one of the world’s busiest ports.
DP World added 2 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) capacity at Jebel Ali
last year with the opening of Terminal 3, taking the port’s total capacity to 17 million TEU.
Another 2 million TEU capacity is due to become operational at the same terminal in the
second half of 2015.
Mr. Bin Damithan highlighted the importance of Singapore Maritime Week as an
international forum for industry leaders to discuss issues and build relationships.
“We were delighted to take part and fly the UAE’s colours at this event, projecting Dubai’s
leading position as the gateway for a region of two billion people,” he said.
DP World’s presence at Singapore’s Maritime Week, has drawn a steady stream of trade
visitors, including top executives of blue chip maritime companies.
