The 2015 theme reflects the extraordinary care all nurses bring to their ministry, and especially honors the practice of faith community nursing and care for the whole person. Debbie, a certified Laughter leader, presented Mindful Mirth at the Retreat on Saturday. Statistical Reporting We continue to work on the process of developing a statistics tool. Thank you for your patience in this process. Remember that practicing as a registered nurse requires documentation for if it is not documented you did not do it. I continue to meet with community partners and they are asking questions about what faith community nurses do. I can visualize the impact outcomes for the community but still need the data from you all to tell them specifics. Annual Survey We thank all of you that took the time to complete the annual survey We look forward to providing programs that interest and benefit you in your ministries in the future. Job Opportunity Parish Nurse - Faith Presbyterian Church is seeking to fill a part time parish nurse position. The position is intended to provide whole person health promotion services with an emphasis on spiritual care. Duties include visiting members in homes, hospitals, and care centers, assessing health needs of congregation and community congruent with the purpose and mission of Faith Church, providing health services consultation with members and staff, as needed, and coordinating educational offerings. Current Arizona license as Registered Nurse, effective communication skills, experience with senior population, community health nursing experience preferred. Parkwood Dr., Surprise, Arizona Faith Community Nursing Course Promote health in mind, body and spirit Duet offers the "Foundations of Faith Community Nursing" course for nurses seeking to become faith community nurses. The course is based on curriculum developed through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center and updated late 2014 with 2 additional modules of Spiritual Care and Behavioral Health. Other topics include: community assessment, starting a ministry, accessing resources, developing health programs, and working in collaboration with partners in faith communities. Aurora is one of the few behavioral health facilities in the country that has a chaplain on staff. I was able to stand up and tell the group of mostly social workers about how faith community nurses can be a resource for them. Area Agency on Aging- Tuesday, June 23, 2015- 1:30-3:00 "Understanding Hoarding Disorder" Because of an overwhelming response they have added a third presentation on June 23, 2015. This presentation was designed to be an introduction to hoarding and addresses issues such as the causes of hoarding, the differences between squalor/hoarding and how individual perceptions can help or hinder attempts to help someone struggling with hoarding behavior .
