From Marina Garbutt:
Playathons 2014/2015:
The three 2014/2015 playathons were very
successful raising over $3000 for the scholarship
fund, up $400 from the previous year. Thanks to
all the teachers who participated in these events.
Hopper Piano & Organ Co provided excellent
pianos free of charge and discount pricing on
piano purchases. DMTA would like to thank Paul
Hopper for this wonderful contribution to our
scholarship fund. Thanks also to Robert
Freeman, who delivered the pianos at reduced
rates.
The playathon dates for 2015/2016 are as
follows:
Saturday October 24, 2015 at Northgate Mall
Saturday December 5 & Sunday December 6,
2015 at Brightleaf Square
Saturday April 9, 2016 at Northgate Mall.

Calling all independent music teachers . . .
As the NCMTA Independent Music Teachers Forum (IMTF) chair, I
am inviting you to apply for the IMTF Scholarship in the amount of
$500.00 to be used for advanced study. This is an incredible
opportunity to gain experience and further your knowledge in an
area of music study that interests you. The scholarship is open to an
NCMTA independent music teacher of any instrument, and the
application can be found on the NCMTA website at www.ncmta.org

Yamaha Digital
Piano for Sale
Do you or any of your students
have a need for a piano? I
bought this a few years back
but rarely play now. It sounds
good, the keys are weighted
and it has a MIDI output. I am
asking $650 for it.

First Position Ballet??
Paige Whitley Bauguess opened the Baroque Dance festival
by teaching the "first position ballet" to approximately 50 attendees
on Saturday April 25. This was the introduction to the first step to the
Bouree. By the end of 2 hours we had gone from
Bouree, to Gigue and everything in between!!
In addition to CD's a big thank you to the students who played for us
as we danced. For her finale Paige danced in Baroque Costume including masks!
She finished with a Q & A session. This event was enjoyed by all!
What a remarkable program!
