eAgrisarathi: An IT driven personalized Agri-facilitator
for better farming

Background
Farming is an unsustainable profession; 27%
farmers dissatisfied with farm livelihoods - not
profitable; 40% are ready quit farming
Objective of eAgrisarathi
• To provide knowledge base that can be applied by the farmers to improve their farm productivity by exploiting the latest developments in
agriculture through information & communication technologies (ICTs)
VISION: To improve the productivity of small farm holdings in a sustainable
manner
The eAgrisarathi as an IT driven personalized Agri-facilitator for better farming as
an improvement to the eSagu system in terms of scalability, cost and additional
features like community discussion and self-learning at village level aims for agroadvisory reach to vast geographical areas of farming at appreciably low cost

The village-level agri-facilitator model description
•Procuring the infrastructure and identification of human resources
•Identification of villages, sample farms, farmer/farm registration
•Once in ten days, the following steps are repeated
o Collecting farm observations and upload into web portal
o Advice delivery for all farm observation by subject matter specialist
o Preparation of crop-specific advice summaries by agriculture experts
o Advice dissemination
o Access of agro-advisories by farmers
o Notice-board/SMS/Internet: One time advice/Regular advice




Cluster is 4 to 5 villages in similar farming situation
Five sample farms for each major crop: 30 farms
Agricultural advice to sample farms regularly
Display crop-specific summaries (photographs, problem and advice) on
the notice-boards
 Farmer compares the problem, follow advice
 If it is not clear, he/she can consult coordinator for farm-specific advice
