Water Supply / Drainage / Vehicle Crossing Service Connection Fact
Water Supply / Drainage / Vehicle Crossing Service Connection Fact Sheet A Service Connection Application shall be completed and a site and drainage plan provided with all Building Consent Applications, whether or not a new water/drainage connection or vehicle crossing is being installed or relocated. If no new service connection is required, why am I still required to complete the application form and provide a site/drainage plan? All Service Connection Applications are processed separately to your Building Consent. In order to ensure that the existing services meet the requirements of your property and that any site works will not impact on the services currently available, the information provided via the service connection application form and the attached site plan will be reviewed to ensure that no further action is required. Service connection application details Fees It is important that all required details are supplied on the application form (even if ‘No Services Required’ has been ticked). Once the application and site plan have been reviewed by Council, if it becomes necessary to contact the applicant or the property owner, then it will speed up this process if all of the correct information has been supplied. All fees will be invoiced either separately, or as part of a consent application. Please see Tauranga City Council’s website for application fees and charges. Site plans As well as the application form, an A3 copy of a detailed site and services plan/s showing all relevant information is required for Council to process the application. The plans shall clearly show: Property boundaries, location of existing services, location of proposed connection, location of obstructions and size and type of materials. Swimming pools It is a Tauranga City Council requirement that all properties that have a swimming pool shall have a Double Check Valve installed immediately after the water meter at the boundary. This is to protect the public water supply from any potential contamination. The Health (Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2007 authorises Council to enforce backflow prevention at the boundary whether this is new or historic. Building a swimming pool requires a Service Connection Application to be completed. Bond (refundable) The Asset Protection Bond will be available for refund once the Service Connection As-built details have been received (if a Service Connection Approval has been granted) and the Code of Compliance Certification has been issued. A Tauranga City Council Development Monitoring Advisor will visit the site in order to establish that the as-builts received are correct and that Council’s Infrastructure remains undamaged.
