2015 Scholarship and Grant Recipients
Congratulations to the following tertiary students who have been awarded Scholarships or Grants to
support their studies.
The 2015 recipients of the Aspiring Teacher Grants, Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships, Step into
Teaching Scholarships, Lambert McBride Perpetual Education Bursary and the TJ Ryan Memorial Medal
and Scholarships programs were announced at a presentation ceremony in Brisbane on 22 April 2015.
Aspiring Teacher Grants
The Aspiring Teacher Grants which are awarded to high-achieving Year 12 school graduates from
2014, each student having achieved an OP of 1-5, which is also a significant accomplishment. A
grant of $1,500 is provided to each recipient to help start their studies towards a teaching career at a
Queensland higher education institution.

Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships
The Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships are valued at up to $20,000 and assist aspiring teachers
who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander to complete an initial pre-service teacher
education program.

Step into Teaching Scholarships recipients
The Step into Teaching Scholarships are valued at up to $25,000 and support high-achieving
individuals to become Science, Mathematics and Industrial Technology and Design teachers in
Queensland state schools.

Lambert McBride Perpetual Bursary
The Lambert McBride Perpetual Education Bursary was established by the McBride family in honour
of their father Mr Lambert McBride, an Aboriginal advocate and lobbyist for Queensland Indigenous
rights. He played an important role in supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
and reconciliation, and this award recognises his legacy.
The Bursary is open to all students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage entering their
second or third year of tertiary study, and provides some financial assistance for tertiary expenses.
