APRIL 12, 2015 | ALL THE LATEST HAPPENINGS AT ENGEDI CHURCH
NEW HERE? WELCOME!
We’re a community of people from different backgrounds
who are just trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus
today. If you’re asking questions about faith and spirituality,
we’d love for you to join us in our classes, events, and ask us
questions. If you’re new here and want to know more about
us, we’d love to talk with you. Stop by the info table in the
lobby or fill out the form on back, and we’ll be in touch.
OUR CABLE PRACTICES
The five practices below serve as guidelines for a way of life
that best helps us live in and share the kingdom of God.
îî Care for the poor and the vulnerable.
îî Acknowledge our journey with one another.
îî Bless our world with contagious love and grace.
îî Listen for God’s voice and learn from His Word.
îî Eat with others outside our normal social circle.
#JESUSCONVOS
Our Current Series
Jesus talked with people from all backgrounds. The rich
and the poor, power brokers and outcasts, parents and
singles—Jesus interacted with them all. If you hear
something that helps you, feel free to share what you learn
online using #jesusconvos.

ENCOUNTER
Wednesday, April 15, 6:30–7:30pm
Take a break from worrying about your taxes and join
others in the Engedi community on April 15. We’ll meet
for a powerful night of prayer and worship. Find more
information at engedichurch.com/encounter.
THE
SOAP PROJECT
Saturday, April 25 | Training: 9am–12pm
Volunteering (with lunch) 12–3pm
Events that draw tourists have the potential to increase
human trafficking. Traffickers transport girls—victims—
into an area to meet increased demand. With over 70
countries represented at Tulip Time, we want to prepare and
educate our local hotels. Attend a training by Theresa Flores,
SOAP founder and trafficking survivor, then stay to label
soap with the Human Trafficking Hotline on the label, and
get the soap into area hotels prior to Tulip Time. Visit Jodi at
the info table or engedichurch.com/soap for more information.
SOAP (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution) is an
organization working to rescue victims and raise awareness
about human trafficking.
THE
FRONT DOOR CLASS
Saturday, April 18, 9–11:30am
What’s Engedi all about? What makes us tick? Find the
answers to these questions and more at the Front Door
Class. This one-session class led by elders from Engedi covers
everything you need to know about partnership. It answers
questions and is the first step to become a partner. To register
for the class, visit engedichurch.com/frontdoor.

JOIN A GROUP
The fact is that true life-change and effective discipleship can only take place in
the context of life-giving relationships. If you’re looking for a way to be encouraged
and challenged, to grow in community, develop spiritual disciplines, and engage
with the mission of expanding the kingdom of God in our city, then take the next
step. Stop by the info table or use the attached tear-off slip.
THE
FAMILY SERVE
Tuesday, April 21 at 7pm or Wednesday, April 22 at 7pm
Help serve the Holland Rescue Mission. The Mission founded the Restoration
Academy, a 48-week faith-based residential recovery program for those in
the community who struggle with destructive life issues like drug and alcohol
abuse, past criminal history, or continuing homelessness. We’ll serve by sorting,
organizing, tagging, and cleaning donated items. Help move the Mission one step
closer towards transforming lives. This is a great chance for families with kids school
age and up. Contact Anthony at anthony@engedichurch.com.
All Tread course marshals and kids fun run helpers need to attend a brief,
required training on April 19 at 12:30pm. Here you’ll receive your course location,
instructions for race day, and your Tulip Time volunteer shirt. Lunch is provided.
(Hospitality tent and start/finish volunteers do not need to attend training.)
Contact tread@engedichurch.com for more info.
