925 XTU - Temple University
92.5 WXTU The Doc and Andie Morning Show With my sophomore year at Temple University coming to a close, I was receiving many emails about looking forward towards my junior internship. I knew I was going to be taking on this internship but, I still had a full year before that was to happen. I found myself looking through the internship opportunities that were being offered the summer before my junior year. I had my mind set completely on events but I came across some internships that caught my interest. Music had played a big part of my life. With this being said, I found myself applying for a position as an intern with Doc and Andie in the Morning at 92.5 XTU. I had gathered all the information that the position required and sent it to the station. With a few short days, I had an interview with Crockett. A couple days had passed when I received a called from him that I would be the newest productions intern for The Morning Show. My internship started in May and ran until the end of August 2013. I was at the studio three times a week from 5AM to 11AM. Here is where I learned the in’s and out’s of the production of music at a radio station. My first day I quickly learned how to use AudioVAULT, which was a hard drive storage and playback system. I also adapted fast with the digital equipment they use throughout their show. Throughtout my time there, I asked a great deal of questions and was left with a bundle of skills that could potentially help me in my future career. I stepped outside my comfort zone of being shy to becoming a more outgoing person. I spent most mornings on the phone with listeners who were going to be on the air, callers who previously won items, and of course, our daily weather kid! This internship was just not in the production studio but, also in the promotions office. Because this position was in the summer, this meant the station was extremely bust with concerts, concert ticket give away’s and ticket runs. I provided my help wherever it was needed at that time. I attended ticket runs, I went to the concerts at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden. Lastly, 92.5 treats their listeners well! Each month in the summer, they gave their listeners a chance to win a party bus ride up to New York City to be a part of the Morning Show, when a country artist would perform. I had the privlage, along with Colleen – who works in promotions, to take ten listeners from our station in Bala Cynwyd to NYC to see Luke Bryan perform. I had the responsibility for that day that everything ran as smoothly as possible. I was given this responsibility that an employee within the promotion department would take on. I am very thankful for this internship experience with 92.5 XTU. It was an experience that has left me with much knowledge of a radio station but, also gave me the opportunity to connect with people from the industry. These people became my second family that will be in my life for years to come and will help me in my future career.
