REHEARSAL INFORMATION
DATE: Friday, May 29rd, 2015
LOCATION: Manitoba Theatre Centre 174 Market Avenue

5:45pm-6:45pm

ALL PRESCHOOL (2 years-Kidance, All Boys)
LEVELED CLASSES (Level 1, 2 & 3A, Boys Hip Hop 1-2)
TEEN & ADULT CLASSES (Level 3B & 4, and Adults)
Participation in the dress rehearsal is MANDATORY. The dress rehearsal allows the students
to become familiar with the auditorium surroundings and feel comfortable with their
performance onstage. Lighting, music cues, and all other logistics for an organized and
professional performance are rehearsed so that the students make the best impression
possible, and feel comfortable and confident when they walk out on stage for the big audience.
STUDENTS ARE TO WEAR REGULAR CLASS DRESS CODE FOR REHEARSAL. NO COSTUMES.

Please arrive at the theatre NO LATER THAN a half hour before your call time, to allow
time to get acquainted with the stage, etc.

Please use the main entrance at the front of the building and sign in at the table. Upon
sign in you will be notified where your class is lined up.

ALL students will meet in the lobby with their dressing parent. We will line up groups in
the lobby, and proceed to the theatre as a group.

Dancers are welcome to stay for the entire rehearsal as it will be their only opportunity
to watch the show.

We ask that students be accompanied by only one parent. Rehearsal is not meant to
be a performance for family and friends. The purpose of this rehearsal is to set the
lights and get a feel for the stage. Thank you in advance for respecting this.

Students will stay with the assigned dressing parents and watch the rehearsal from the
theatre with their class. After they practice their dance they will head back to their seats
as a group. (Please do not separate classes; we do not have time to look for students.)
GROUPS MUST STAY TOGETHER! Parents may sign their child out with the volunteer
parent once they have performed all of their required dances.

All volunteer parents must stay with the group until all children have been signed out.
THERE WILL BE NO GROUP WARM-UP, SO PLEASE ALLOW YOURSELF
TIME TO STRETCH TO AVOID INJURIES.
Parents may only enter the theatre through the lobby. There will be no access from backstage.
All parents waiting must sit in the back of the theatre, the front seats are reserved for dancers.

DRESSING ROOM ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE GIVEN AT SIGN IN.

Please arrive at your scheduled call time prior to curtain. DO NOT BE LATE!!

Students must sign in before the show. Upon signing in, each family will receive ONE
wristband (in split families, the wristband will go to the registered parent on the account).
After signing in, ONE PARENT ONLY may escort their child to the dressing area.
Please have wristband on you.

Students will change into their costumes once they are in their dressing rooms. Please
do not arrive in costume.

Upon completion of the show, ONLY THE PARENT WITH THE WRISTBAND may enter
the backstage area to collect their child. There will be NO ENTRANCE to the dressing
rooms until 10 minutes after completion of the show. This will allow time for dancers to
gather their belongings in an orderly fashion.

At the end of the show please do not crowd the door. Allow students time to change.
Parents must sign out their child from the class volunteer prior to leaving.
ALL DANCERS MUST STAY FOR THE DURATION OF THE SHOW- NO EXCEPTIONS!
We simply do not have time to be signing out students in the middle of the show. There will be
plenty of activities to keep your child busy. Please be considerate that if every parent were to
take their child in the middle of the show, the students dancing in the end of the show would
not have an audience. Every child deserves to perform to the same large audience.
Remember, this is a great bonding time for your child with their peers!
Exhale Dance Studio and MTC will not be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items,
please DO NOT send children with valuables.
ESSENTIAL RECITAL DAY ITEMS:





Extra hairspray, bobby pins, elastics, gel, hairnets
Healthy PEANUT FREE snacks; nothing messy/sticky, nothing that can stain.
Simple activities to pass the time (leap pad, cards, board games, coloring etc)
A water bottle (leak proof please) ABSOLUTELY NO JUICE OR POP
ALL BELONGINGS including shoes and accessories MUST be labelled.
Children level 2 or younger (under 9 years of age) should NOT bring make
up with them. Please apply it beforehand. You may supply them with lip
colour. Exhale Dance Studio will not be responsible for damaged make up.

PLEASE BRING ALL FOOD IN A SEPARATE BAG FROM YOUR DANCE ATTIRE
 PLEASE KEEP DRESSING ROOMS CLEAN.
VISITATION TO THE DRESSING ROOMS DURING THE SHOW OR AT INTERMISSION
WILL NOT BE PERMITTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. We have record of where you
are seated in the theatre if, for any reason, we feel your presence is needed.
TIPS: COSTUME COMMON SENSE





Always have a second pair of tights available (additional tights are sold at the front desk)
Place costumes in a garment bag or suitcase for safe travels
Hang and steam costumes before performances
Place your name in all costumes, costume pieces/accessories and shoes.
Costumes are for performances only. Do not attempt to wash a costume before the show.
Make-up:
All students should wear make-up.
The bright lights from the stage wash out features of the dancers face.



Ages 6 and up should apply blush, mascara, brown tone eyeshadow, and some lipstick (a
few shades darker than lip color). Do not send kids with make-up - apply ahead of time.
Preschool students are asked to wear a little bit of blush and some lip gloss. If you can get
mascara on them…AWESOME!
Older students should have full stage make-up. (We recommend MAC Russian Red as a
lipstick, with brown tones for eyeshadow, mascara, blush, foundation if necessary, and false
eyelashes.)
Hair
Hair is to be slicked into a bun with a hair donut using gel, a hairnet and hairpins. Youtube videos
are available for demo. You should be able to see the front of the bun on the top of the head.
NO TATTOOS, NAIL POLISH, OR JEWELLERY!
GENERAL INFORMATION



All accounts must have a zero balance to participate in the Recital.
NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY is allowed. This is strictly enforced. It is a distraction for
the dancers and could result in injury. It is also disrupting to the audience. Please
respect the privacy of others by not posting your pictures online.
We have a professional videographer to record our shows. In order to protect students
from someone using their video for illegal purposes, no videos may be taken by
audience member during performances. If you are interested in purchasing a DVD or
BluRay copy of our shows, please fill out the form below and hand it in to Miss. Karolina
by Saturday, May 23, 2015..

THE LIVE PERFORMANCE ONLY HAPPENS ONCE…enjoy it (not through a camera lens).
We have hired professionals to capture the moments for you so you can sit back and enjoy!

Brannek Video Productions will be with us again to film the 5th annual dance recital. DVDs
and Blu-Rays are a great keepsake that your family will cherish for years to come. They are
also a great way to show out-of-town family and friends your child’s dance recital.
If you are interested in purchasing a DVD or Blu-Ray, they must be pre-ordered. Please fill out
the form below and turn it in to Miss. Karolina no later than Saturday May 23rd.
Forms will be available at dress rehearsal and recital. All DVDs and Blu-Rays purchased after
May 23rd will incur a $5.00 late fee. Please have your orders in early to avoid late fees.
You will be informed by email when your DVD OR Blu-Ray is ready for pick up.
*THERE IS A MINIMUM ORDER NEEDED FOR BLU-RAYS, IF THE MINIMUM IS NOT MET YOU WILL BE REIMBURSED THE $5.00 AND
WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A DVD COPY OF THE SHOW
