Mortise Lock Handing Instructions
1. Move the Red locking screw to
side of lock-body being locked (Fig. 1)

2. Push in latch then depress catch
plate with screw driver (Fig. 1)
3. Pull latch out of lock-body
and turn latch over (Fig. 2)

4. Push in latch while holding
screw driver behind latch tail (Fig. 3)
Note: Push in latch until catch plate is
no longer depressed (Fig. 4)
MAKE SURE CATCH PLATE IS
EVEN W/ TOP SURFACE
5. Rotate lock front to match
bevel of door as shown (Fig. 5)

Installing BHSS Trim
NOTE: Be sure to hand the lockbody before installing. See
page 2 for instructions.
ASSA ABLOY
1. Install strike on frame with supplied screws. The strike lip
must be oriented toward the pull side of the door.

2. Insert the lockbody into the door. Secure lock in door by
hand tightening the supplied screws.
NOTE: Make sure the lock is unlocked before
installing.

3. Cylinder Functions Only – Slide cylinder(s) through spring
and collar and thread into the lockbody until cylinder face
is flush with collar. Pull the key slightly out of the cylinder
to help thread. (see Fig. 6)

NOTE: Corbin Russwin logo must be horizontal and
on the top portion of the cylinder
4. Cylinder Functions Only - Fully tighten cylinder set screw.
5. Insert spindle from adapter plate kit in lockbody.
6. Slide plastic template over spindle.

NOTE: Make sure template is oriented correctly
(see Fig. 7)
7. Square template to edge of door (see Fig. 7)
8. Mark (2) thrubolt holes.
NOTE: Repeat steps 6-9 on other side of door.
9. Remove template and spindle

10. Drill thrubolt holes with 9/16" drill bit halfway thru the door.
NOTE: Drill both sides of door.
Outside Trim
11. With lever in up position, insert spindle in outside trim
assembly.

12. Align (4) mounting posts with thru-bolt holes in door and
install outside trim assembly. (see Fig. 8) Keep lever in an
“up” position when installing.
NOTE: After trim is installed, rotate lever to make
sure spindle is engaged in lock.

13. Insert spindle from adapter plate kit into lockbody on
inside door.

14. Slide inside adapter plate over spindle and install inside
adapter plate with two #8 adapter mounting screws. (see
Fig. 9)
NOTE: Make sure the adapter plate tab and set
screw hole are facing the lock front prior to
installing screws.
15. Install inside trim assembly. Keep lever in an “up”
position when installing. Use cast-in posts on back of
escutcheon to help align the trim.

16. Tighten inside lever set screw with security torx
screwdriver and Install (2) #10 and (1) #8 escutcheon
mounting screws through inside escutcheon. (see Fig.
10)

17. Fully tighten lockbody mounting screws.
18. Install lock front with 2 security torx screws.

19. Turn-Piece Functions Only - Rotate turn-piece toward
lock front. Hold turn-piece against door and make sure
the screw holes are aligned horizontally. Install first turnpiece mounting screw. Rotate turn-piece to locked
position and install second turn-piece mounting screw.
(See Fig. 11)
NOTE: Some functions restrict the thumbturn from
rotating completely (2042, 2052, 2053, 2054,
2055, 2056, 2058).

NOTE: If installing on a metal door, be sure
to mark and pre-drill holes first.
