Schedule of Events
Week 1 (June 1-5):
Skills camp: The camp will cover hitting, fielding,
base running and several other game skills. Hitting drills will be administered in the batting cages using tees, pitching machines as well as soft
toss drills. Fielding drills to teach proper fielding,
situational plays, rules of the game and general
knowledge of force outs. Base running skills and
other drills will be practiced each day. Week 1 will
be at the YMCA.
Week 2 (June 8-12):
Slow pitch softball: The kids will be split into
teams the night before and bring a shirt according
to away or home teams. They will use the skills
they have learned to play against each other in a
friendly game. Week 2 will be at the Freight Field
or the YMCA if weather forces us off the field.
June 12th from 6 until done, we will do a Friday
Night Lights round robin Slow Pitch Softball tournament.
Week 3 (June 15-19):
Fast Pitch Softball: In this week we will use a
pitching machine rather than a pitcher. The teams
will once again be broke into teams the day before. Week 3 will be at the Freight Field or the
YMCA if weather forces us off the field. June 19th
from 6 until done, we will do a Friday Night Lights
round robin Fast Pitch Softball tournament.
Week 4 (June 22-26):
Baseball: We will transition into baseball using a
pitching machine. Week 4 will be at the Freight
Field or the YMCA if weather forces us off the
field. June 26th from 6 until done, we will do a Friday Night Lights round robin Baseball tournament.
Week 5 (June 29-July 3):
Alternative games: We will cover several alternative baseball-type games such as kitten ball, whiffle ball, kick ball and several other games that are
designed to be fun and add a touch of creativity.
These games will all be taught before any game
type situations begin. They are all easy and fun
games to learn. Week 5 will be at the YMCA.
Helmets The YMCA will provide with hel-
mets, however, we do recommend that you
purchase your own for safety and health
reasons.
