Let’s Play Ball! 2015 COED Summer Ball Program Registration Form The Family YMCA of Fayette County is excited to offer a new program during the summer of 2015 for youth ages 9-14. Boys and Girls Ages: 9-14 All participants will be broken up into 2 or 3 groups depending on the number of registrations. Activities will start at noon and sessions will last for an hour and a half. The Y’s mission for this program: To teach the kids the basics of how to play baseball, softball and other recreational games that are played on a ball field. We will stress fun in a competitive atmosphere that will foster a love for the game. Program Information (Please keep this) Registration Information UNIFORM Each player will receive two shirts (A home and away shirt). Players can wear uniform pants or shorts for these leagues (Wal-Mart & Champion Trophies & T’s stock these locally. AGE RANGE & SCHEDULE The Family YMCA of Fayette County is excited to offer a new program during the summer of 2015 for youth ages 9-14. The kids will be broken up into 2 or 3 different groups depending on the number signing up. The groups will start at noon and last 1 ½ hours sessions until finished. The program will begin on June 1 and end on July 3. THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS Friday, May 8, 2015 by 10PM. Those who register late will be charged a $20.00 late fee. Late registrations that are turned in after the shirt order has been placed may not receive a shirt. Registrations will not be accepted without payment included. Please use one form per child. Schedule of Events Week 1 (June 1-5): Skills camp: The camp will cover hitting, fielding, base running and several other game skills. Hitting drills will be administered in the batting cages using tees, pitching machines as well as soft toss drills. Fielding drills to teach proper fielding, situational plays, rules of the game and general knowledge of force outs. Base running skills and other drills will be practiced each day. Week 1 will be at the YMCA. Week 2 (June 8-12): Slow pitch softball: The kids will be split into teams the night before and bring a shirt according to away or home teams. They will use the skills they have learned to play against each other in a friendly game. Week 2 will be at the Freight Field or the YMCA if weather forces us off the field. June 12th from 6 until done, we will do a Friday Night Lights round robin Slow Pitch Softball tournament. Week 3 (June 15-19): Fast Pitch Softball: In this week we will use a pitching machine rather than a pitcher. The teams will once again be broke into teams the day before. Week 3 will be at the Freight Field or the YMCA if weather forces us off the field. June 19th from 6 until done, we will do a Friday Night Lights round robin Fast Pitch Softball tournament. Week 4 (June 22-26): Baseball: We will transition into baseball using a pitching machine. Week 4 will be at the Freight Field or the YMCA if weather forces us off the field. June 26th from 6 until done, we will do a Friday Night Lights round robin Baseball tournament. Week 5 (June 29-July 3): Alternative games: We will cover several alternative baseball-type games such as kitten ball, whiffle ball, kick ball and several other games that are designed to be fun and add a touch of creativity. These games will all be taught before any game type situations begin. They are all easy and fun games to learn. Week 5 will be at the YMCA. Helmets The YMCA will provide with hel- mets, however, we do recommend that you purchase your own for safety and health reasons.
