Become a FACT Youth Board Member Today! FACT is currently accepting applications to take your FACT leadership to the next level by becoming a FACT Board member. Our Youth Board is a group of experienced FACT members in grades 7 through 12 from across Wisconsin who are selected to represent the interests of FACT members throughout the state as they provide valuable direction to FACT’s staff and other key stakeholders. Boardies build on their existing leadership and communication skills to serve as a bridge between their local FACT groups and the statewide movement. ///OPPORTUNITIES/// Build transferable leadership, teamwork and communication skills for college and employment Make new friends from throughout Wisconsin and collaborate with them to achieve goals and make a difference Represent the interests and concerns of your local FACT group and community at the state level Help your local FACT group stay connected to the statewide movement with current information Meet your fellow Boardies face-to-face during a weekend Board meeting retreat where you will gain skills and solve problems Attend conferences and trainings (when funding allows) FACT Boardies serve one year terms. There are no fees for youth to participate and reimbursement for related expenses (i.e. travel) may be available. Experienced FACT members who want to utilize their leadership qualities and become more involved on a statewide level are encouraged to complete the application at tinyurl.com/FACTboardApp2015. ///ELIGIBILITY/// Current FACT members who will be in grades 7 through 12 next year and will continue to be active members throughout the duration of their one year Board member term (July 1, 2015– June 30, 2016) Has earned at least 1,000 FACTivism points by the application due date Has displayed devotion to the FACT movement, a comprehensive understanding of its goals and enthusiastic involvement at the local level Eager to build their leadership, civic engagement and teamwork skills Competent using the time management and communication (written and verbal) skills that they already have Recommended by their local FACT group’s Adult Advisor (Letter of recommendation required) ///RESPONSIBILITIES/// Begin term on July 1, 2015 and remain an active member for at least one year (June 30, 2016) Take part in monthly conference calls with other Boardies Attend the annual in-person meeting (recommended but not required) Provide updates at your local FACT group’s meetings about the statewide movement throughout your term Present at least 2 updates to your local tobacco-free multi jurisdictional coalition about the FACT movement’s local and state level activities during your term Write and submit at least 1 letter to the editor during your term Accompany your local FACT group to at least 1 meeting with a local legislator during your term Complete at least 12 FACTivisms during your term Personally recruit at least 5 new FACT members during your term Participate in 2 one-on-one consultations with FACT staff during term
