Focus will be on practical aspects of working in the fastener industry. You’ll
learn how to respond to technical questions from engineers and technicians and
how to find the appropriate answers. Subjects covered will include • Product
standards and materials • Heat treatment • Thread types and selection criteria •
Corrosion and prevention/protection • Quality issues • Vibration loosening and
locking technologies • Tightening tools and methods.Bring your questions to the
workshop and get them discussed and answered by an experienced fastener

host this year’s outing. The course is just 20 minutes from the convention center.

demands, technologies, labor trends are accelerating so rapidly that traditional
business rules just don’t apply anymore. Therefore, 21st-century leaders must
adapt by learning to lead their teams and their own careers differently. This
seminar explores critical leadership skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing
business world. Speakers will discuss the impact a mentor can have on your
career. Having access to a trusted mentor is essential to sharpening your own
ability to change and adapt. There will also be discussion on the techniques to
help you transform your organization from one that resists change to one that
relishes it. Learning how to change and evolve your leadership skills through
powerful mentoring relationships is the first step. If you can’t master the ability
to change, how can you lead others to do the same?” Session Speakers: Renee
Giacalone began her career in the fastener industry holding various sales and
operational positions for six years with The Aderman. She spent the next ten
years with Standard Register, a document and print manufacturer where she
developed process improvement skills as a Six Sigma Black Belt. Renee later
joined Bank of America holding leadership positions in process improvement,
change management and retail management for nine years. Renee is currently
a Senior Manager for Centric Consulting, a leader in Business Process and
Change Management consulting services for middle-market companies in the
Chicago area. Mary “Lou” Aderman began her career with her father’s company,
Don Aderman, Inc., as a manufacturer’s representative. She became owner of
The Aderman Co., Inc., in 1984. She has represented Lake Erie Corporation
and Nucor Fastener. She developed MLou Purchasing Services as a buying
and selling division of Aderman Co. Lou is co-founder of WIFI, Women In the
Fastener Industry, and continues as a manufacturer’s representative and
coach/consultant in the industry.
