The credit union’s core business is taking risk; as a result, it is expected to have a full enterprise risk management program in place to assist with identifying, managing and monitoring risk. For the board, this requires setting the tone for risk appetite and risk tolerance, then using those tools to effectively oversee risk. This course focuses on the concepts of enterprise risk management and the board’s role in the risk framework. Directors who fully participate in this course should leave with a strong level of risk literacy. *Required course for Level B completion System leaders, prepare to delve into the character of leaders. Dr. Mark Reno has been working with Ivey Business School (University of Western Ontario) in researching the critical importance of “character” in senior leadership. In this full-day, three-part workshop, Mark both shares Ivey’s research findings then impactfully applies them to “effective business leadership”. You, as credit union and system leaders, are invited to be full participants on this journey into “the character of leaders”. Discover your personal leader character strengths by completing an online questionnaire before the workshop. The combined results and their significance will be the focus of the first part of the day; then, Mark leads a unique case study discussion which profiles the role of an exemplary leader character in strategic and socially responsible leadership. The day ends with a discussion of the practical implications of “leader character” for you personally, your organization and for the credit union sector as a whole. Whether you’re in an executive, management or board role, you will leave this workshop with fresh insights into how and how much leader character matters.
