Heart
Since God brought us together two years ago, I have
been stressing something that in most churches has been
long forgotten, our church covenant. A covenant is more
than an agreement, it’s binding together, a bond that
unites us together. Marriage is a covenant relationship. I
would like to walk through our church covenant with
you and think about what we covenant together to do.
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to
receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the
profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we
do now in the presence of God, angels, and this
assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into
covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
Notice that our covenant is for us as believers in Jesus
Christ and our covenant is made before God, the
heavenly host, and one another. This shows us that our
covenant is serious business. It is not entered into lightly.
Note that we enter this covenant solemnly, that is
seriously and sincerely, but yet with great joy! Our
church membership is something about which we should
be very thoughtful.
Church membership is not like being a part of a “country
club” where the members are to be served. No, church
membership is being gifted by God so we can serve Him
and others. If I am worried about “Who is going to take
care of me, serve me, pay attention to me?” then my
focus is wrong. We are different parts of the “one body
in Christ” as our covenant points out. Christ puts
together the different parts of the body for different roles
and functions.
If you are not plugged in, guess what, the body is
missing some of its parts! Usually in biblical covenant
agreements, there are blessings in keeping the covenant.
Don’t miss out on a blessing by not being a part of the
body. We need you!

We had a great Mission Trip this
p ast w eek to A p p a la c h ia n
Outreach. Our team consisted of Bill
Hager, David Ellis, Frank Fisher,
Lazarus Tanukula, and myself. We
had the privilege of working on the
new Center to prepare it for an
opening this fall. God had blessed
this ministry in a great way. They were planning to
build a center to house materials for the home repair
ministry, but God opened the door to a warehouse that
was three times the size they had hoped for. We were
preparing the rooms (from walls and trim to floors) for
the clothes closet, food pantry, and counseling that will
take place. They are open weekly and serve about 700
families a month. We were happy to have a part in
helping the new center open by September. We also
helped with outside fencing and problems with
plumbing. Thank you for helping us to minister to the
people in Appalachia who are getting help with their
physical and spiritual needs through this ministry.

Dear Church Family,
Above, you see a poem written about the Christian Flag
and what it reminds us of and represents. Due to recent
news in Georgia concerning it, I think God gave me an
idea. The idea is for all of us to get a Christian flag and
fly it in our homes and privately owned businesses. If
you don’t own your own business then you could talk
to your boss to see if he or she would allow you to fly
it or at least have one at your own work area. In doing
this, we could proudly share that we know Jesus Christ
died on the cross for our sins and rose three days later
so we can have eternal life. We could make a
difference for Christ with God’s help. Then each time
someone asks about the flag we fly, we would be
blessed with a chance to share Jesus with someone.
From here, God could cause amazing things to happen
in our home, town, state, country, and even our world.
With God, nothing we do to serve Him is impossible.
